Here is a little game summary of the Lafayette Comeaux game.
Will Todd did not play in the game because of some sort of injury.
Lafayette controlled the game throughout; however, they didn't play with a lot of fire. It also appeared that their timing was a little off on a lot of their passes. That said, they played well enough to dominate Comeaux. Comeaux had very few opportunities and not many shots on goal. Lafayette scored first on a volley by McNamara off of a Carter cross. This goal came about 4 minutes into the game. Lafayette's second goal came off of a throw-in by Pierce. Deep in Comeaux territority, Pierce's throw sailed to the far side of the goal. McNamara took a shot, but it was deflected and bounced right to Hardy who was perched right in front of the goal, inside the six. Hardy drilled the ball home for a 2-0 Lafayette lead. Halftime score Lafayette 2 - Comeaux 0.
Belfour opened the second half scoring on a break away. He beat the Comeaux keeper with a low shot that went in far post. Later in the half, McNamara won a PK which Belfour took. The PK was good, but the center disallowed the goal because Hardy crossed the 18 before the ball crossed the goal line. Lafayette had another goal disallowed on a questionable offside call. The game ended 3-0.
Also of note: Mark St. Cyr made one of the best defensive plays of the year in the second half to keep Comeaux scoreless. Comeaux had what appeared to be a breakaway down the right half of the field. I think it was number 22 for the Spartans. St. Cyr came all the way from the left side to catch the Comeaux player near the 18. He quiclky established position and made a beautiful tackle to save what could have been a goal.
