Everybody from where we're sitting, and I believe a TON of other fans, seemed to think CD got away with a handball ala "chicken wing" in closing seconds on the play in this photo where NCS keeper came up to assist on trying to equalize... Attachments:

Was it a CD hand ball in box on last direct kick? In final 30 seconds nlc had direct kick. Pulled goalie up. Ball got into box and hit an arm. Not intentional from my eyes. (my children don't play for either school). So I'm ok with the ref letting them play. But there is an argument to be made.
Both teams and fans displayed good sportsmanship. It was a pleasure watching the match today. Both teams should be proud of how they played excellent soccer team. Well coached on both sides.

Had to miss game, work emergency... thanks for the wonderful blog. M, thanks for the pics, Wow ...
Re: hand ball... didn't happen because wasn't called on the field. If we start voting in the stands for calls, the game is going to take forever to finish. Please ... not another coulda woulda PK argument.
Game over, CD champions, NLC ranked No. 1 start of next year.
Congratulations to C.D. In the last 10 years or so the school has won State Championships in about eleven different sports including baseball, basketball, and now soccer.
Field looks great with football stripes gone...

As a parent of the Northlake Christian, the last hour has been really hard on all of us. I want to congratulate the Cajuns on a well fought victory. As far as the alleged hand ball near the end of the game, I didn't see it, and if it indeed happened, I'm sure it would have been called. The game was very aggressive and it was clear that Country Day belonged in the final. I'm not sure St. Thomas Aquinas would have been able to compete in this game. Congrats everyone on a great season!

Not sure why that comment was made but I don't think that's true. Congrats CD on a great season and great win.

I'm also wondering why STA was brought up at all. STA was almost in the final and came closer to beating Counrty Day then NLC did. Great job by the Cajuns this year

Great job to the Cajuns. It was a hard fought game that came down the one little detail but that's all it takes. It could have gone either way right up until the last second. Both teams had a great season and both deserved to be in that game. It truly was the top seeds. As for the comments toward STA, I would have to disagree. They would have been a great competitor to be in this game also but it didn't happen like that. So let's drop that subject and focus on the game. Again, congrats to CD. I must say that I am proud to have played for such a great team and a great coach. The other teams, my school, the fans, and the soccer community (especially LAprep) has made my career so great. Thanks to everyone.

First Post:
Congrats to Aris and the Country Day boys. State Champions. Well done. Ya'll worked hard all year to get where you are. Aris is one of the best coaches in the state and i'm proud to say a friend. Well done Sir.
Congrats to Nick and Nate and all of the Northlake Christian Wolverines on a great year and a great run to the finals. I'm sorry it had to end the way it did, but hold your heads up high. Ya'll worked hard.
Now i would like to congratulate someone very special to me,my little brother.(NCS Keeper)
Jeff, it has been one of the great experiences of my life to coach and watch you grow and develop into the person and player you are now and I could not be more proud. Congrats on the great career you have had at Northlake. They will surely miss you next year. So will I. Keep your head up kid. You played great.

This year the differential between CD, NCS, and STA was minute, with another small measure to Newman. CD won and thus was a small increment upscale. Interesting that the D-III weekly coaches' ratings throughout the year were shown to be pretty accurate.
A truly interesting year, only going to get better next year because the competition from a lot of schools in Div-III is on a steep upward curve.

congrats CD. great game! only score came on a ball that barely got over the line. but clearly was. Northlake and Newman will be the teams to worry about next year (this is only my opinion from what teams i saw).

This year the differential between CD, NCS, and STA was minute.... Couldn't agree more. Congratulations to both CD and NCS on a well played, close, exciting Championship game. Special congratulations to DIII Championship game MOP, and goal scorer, CD's Teddy Benjamin.

U-High loses to NCS in their home stadium 1-0 in a really close game, starting 2 seniors and gets no mention? Might need to look beyond New Orleans occasionally.
