Sorry to start a new thread but there was no reply icon on the other one. I will most definitely file a complete match report when I get home. I expect Shreve to win in a close match Friday night. I am pretty sure that Sulphur has played at Indy before. Seems like I refereed a match between Byrd and Sulphur two years ago. So some of their juniors and seniors may be making a return visit to Indy. and the big field. Shreve will be sky high for the match, they are smarting from the Magnet match and fully expect to turn things around vs Sulphur. They beat them 3-1 in the Pineville tournament semifinals, but they know that Sulphur is fully capable of beating them on any given day. Good luck to both teams and everyone else in the playoffs. Go Gators!!!

I think Sulphur is playing a lot better now than they were in the Pineville tourney. I agree with goat about them finding more offense lately. Sulphur should put Brad in the back for the entire game.
I think this is not a very good time to be playing Shreve. Shreve should come out in an absolute frenzy. Sulphur has a few factors working against them. Shreve is not happy about losing a tough distrist match against Caddo and will be looking to take it out on someone. Also, for years, Shreve has heard that North LA soccer is inferior, so they will be looking to prove that they can smack a very good district three team. Sulphur, how long is that bus ride? What time are you leaving? What time do you have to get up for school? By 8pm on Friday, Sulphur will already have had an extremely long day...what time did the kids get up on Friday morning, 6am? Fourteen hours later they have the soccer game. Ouch.
Sulphur needs to batten the hatches and ride out the initial waves of Shreve pressure. If Shreve gets some good opportunities early and doesn't convert them, maybe they hit a post or two or Sulphur's keeper makes some nice saves, they may begin to press. That might open the door for Sulphur to get some good counter opportunities. I think Sulphur's downfall will be if they are not patient enough and press too much to get a score. When its all said and done, I think Shreve wins this one. Don't hate me Sulphur, it's just a guess, but I think the final is 3-1.

i couldn't reply on the other one becasue of the no rply icon. I don't know. My comment about Tad Gormley being a backyard playground was meatn to say that the stadium we hold the championship is in the backyard of some major contenders. We should move the site every couple of years at least.

I agree. I don't know the details of the deal, but the DI and DIII championship games are part of the Nokia Sugar Bowl sponsorship deal, though. As I understand it, that means the game will be in NOLA for a while.

Sulphur has had a hard time lately finding the back of the net. It seems they do most of their scoring from set plays and from the penalty mark. I will say it again if Sulphur plays strong competition and scores 1st and early you are going to find it hard to beat them. If the opposition scores 1st Sulphur usually panics and is dead.

to hdkjga and mcscruff, we are getting a nice charter bus, checking out of school at 12, leaving around 130 . 2 gettin to shreve around 530-6 scoping out the fields and playin on it , i dont think the rides going to do anything to effect the game, we are all going to sleep early tonight and getting prepared, we know what we gotta do to win , and to shreve dad 1 of shreves goals was a chip from 40 yards out on our old goalie, he dont even play anymore , also the last goal never crossed the line, we had a man on the line that cleared it out, the linemen called it 20 yards off the touch line. so the game actually was alot closer then the score made it out to be.

imeg........tell your coach he is making the right decision. I didn't know you were leaving early for the game. With that known, I agree the bus ride probably won't be a factor......if you were arriving just before game I would say it is. It should be a very interesting match. Just make sure your boys don't tire themselves out too quickly. 80 minutes is a long time on any field, and especially on one the size of Indy. Good Luck.

I am not going to predict which game is going to be the best in the first round, but I am going to warn anyone coming up from Sulpher that this will be the COLDEST game of the first round. Game time temp is going to be in the mid 30's. Since they have enclosed Indy Stadium, the lower north end has become a subduction zone for wind, and if you are not properly layered and shielded from the wind, this will be the most miserable night of your life.
Bring all the heavy coats, hats, gloves, and blankets you can pack. I believe they still let you bring portable propane heaters in.
Dress like you are going to sit in a duck blind or deer stand.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Indy is like a wind tunnel. Gonna be cold if there is any wind at all, it just gets amplified. Also, some ppl say bring turfs but the surface is no different then grass. Almost all the players up north play on the field with regular cleats and have no problems. It is a VERY nice field to play on, no bumbs or holes anywhere. Do not wear studs if it rains, the field will not get soaked and there is no dirt for it to dig in to, they will only make you uncomfortable
