no lighting is projected so you'll will play.... lafayette may be playing great right now but the conditions are horrible... I have even seen a few side streets flooded, but haven't seen the field... It will be one hell of a mess... Good Luck to both teams

I say as much as LHS coach lets them. If he lets them score 12 then they will.

If the field was dry, then I say HLB wouldn't pose a threat, however, the great thing about soccer is there are so many factors that go into a game. The elements are one of those factors. I still think LHS will win pretty handily, but the score won't reflect it. I think it will be a 1 or 2 point game in Lafayette's favor.

Final in this one is
LHS 4 HLB 1
Halftime scoce was 1-1. HLB scores first on a counter about midway through the first half. LHS scores to tie it at 1 each with about 4 to go in the first half. HLB wears down and LHS takes control and scores 3 unanswered goals in the second half.

we was with them the whole game in my opinion, we just made a few mistakes in the backfield and they took advantage of them. it was a great game, it was an adrenaline rush the whole time. great game lafayette. gl in the next round.
final score: 4-1 lafayette wins

looks like the score was about what most people predicted. A lot of predictions said 4-1, 5-1, 5-0, 6-0. I know a couple people said 5-0 at half, but I don't think they felt that way after they saw the weather. Congrats to Lafayette on the win, and congrats to HLB on a good season. Hopefully, the program will continue to progress in the direction it is.

Yeah congrats to both teams. I think HLB is moving in the right direction. The weather was a factor. We had over 2 inches of rain in Houma today.

Pins and Needles
This was a really good soccer match. Both teams played very hard for the full 80 minutes in poor conditions. It only drizzled during the first half, but the field was soaked. Standing puddles of water reached out and stopped passes in their tracks. Slick patches of grass turbocharged balls and sent them skidding well beyond their intended mark, or out of bounds. These were very tough conditions for a playoff match, but they sure did make the game exciting. There was a good turnout for both sides, despite the advese conditions. There was definitely playoff electricity in the air. Lafayette came out and put pressure on early, but the conditions, good defense and great keeper play prevented them from scoring. At about the 20 minute mark, Lafayette had a shot hit off the bottom of the crossbar and deflect straight down to the goalline where the keeper was able to knock it out of the danger area. Lafayette thought they had a goal, but the linesman said it didn't cross. HLB's fans were going nuts cheering their defense. It was probably the first time that a soccer stadium has ever felt like a football staduim to me. I mean, they were loud and you could feel a shift. Moments later, HLB sent a ball to a forward in front of the Lafayette defense. Shot. The Lafayette keeper got a hand on it and hustled to get the ball, but the other HLB forward was there to nail the ball home. 1-0 HLB and the crowd was going wild and my heart was in my stomach. Lafayette kept the pressure up for the rest of the half and finally solved the riddle with about 4 minutes remaining.
The rain picked up and was very steady the entire second half. Lafayette looked determined coming out, but it looked like they were a little tight and pressing too much. HLB got some good push and was able to possess the ball very well for the first ten minutes or so. I have no clue when, but I'm guessing at about the 55 minute mark, Judice got the ball on the offensive side of midfield. He was unchecked and was able to dribble up to about 30 out and ripped a scorcher on the ground that he burried into the corner of the net. I think the ball was deflected by an HLB defender, but it was an excellent shot. From there, Lafayette really took control. HLB got some good chances on the counter after Ellendar scored to make it 3-1. Carlos saved at least one really nice shot. Woody Ellis scored Lafayette's final goal off of a header in stoppage time. The ref called the game shortly after the kickoff was put into play.
Really good game. Good job by HLB. Their defense was stout and their keepers played great. I definitely think that program is heading in the right direction. Lafayette definitely worked very hard for the victory.
