If EDW is in the same class and district as CL then you will have to sit out. and if they are in the same district then there are many loopholes. But if they are not you should be clear to paly sports.

if u move then u dont have to... if u transfer then i think you do... im not sure if central lafourche is public or private but if you switch from one school (i.e. puplic to private of vise versa) you dont have to sit out, (but if you switch from public to another public or private to another private then i think you do have to sit).... and if u do it during the summer i dont think it makes a difference

If you are just changing schools in your town and the school is not your home school, I'm pretty sure you will have to sit out. The rules are not always fair to some kids. This is what has caused the Private-Public brouhaha. You have 3 eighth graders that live in the Southwood district- 1 can go to Caddo Magnet and play as a freshman, 1 can go to Shreve, enroll in the magnet program, and play as a freshman, the other goes to Loyola and has to sit as a freshman. I really don't see how that can be fair. Good luck and I hope you are allowed to play.

According to this you would probably have to sit out a year at E.D. White since E.D. White is in the Thibodaux High School attendance zone and not the Central Lafourche attendance zone.
TRANSFER:
If student attends a school outside of his/her "Home Attendance Zone", he/she is automatically ineligible for one year unless he/she meets the provisions of the Transfer Rule.

Yea I would think so. I remember when I went to school at Vandebilt and was in eigth grade, I lived in the St. Bernadette church area by the Houma mall and was considered ineligible for the beginning of the season. Then I moved by Hollywood Rd. and got to play the second half of the season. That was 20 years ago, but it looks like nothing has changed. I don't like the LHSAA very much and I wish the whole soccer community would back out under the LHSAA and start their own socccer only association for high school ball.

Home attendance zone clarification :
This coming from personal experience, I transferred from a private school to a public school that was the public school that I would had to go to if decided not to shell out the cash and attend private school. I was immediately eligible for any varsity competition simply because it was where i was SUPPOSED to be going to school. Every school board has difference policies regarding their 'attendance zones', but it basically boils down to the number of people in an area in relation to the capacity of the school. Some parishes offer enrollment in any high school within their parish, regardless of where specifically you live.
In your case, going from a public school to a private school will mean you have to sit out a FULL CALENDAR year from the time you first enroll at E.D. and attend class (presumably the frst day of school).
