I was at the game last nite and wanted to post a few things for those that didnt get to see it. To start with, the field was in horrible condition. Mudholes and dips in the field all over the place. Is it not possible for the host team to find a better field for a playoff game? Maybe not. It 'seemed' they were much more familiar with every hole on the field. Thankfully, the rain held off until after the game. For those of you not familiar with West Feliciana, they are a very young team with a lot of potential. Most of the team are 9th and 10th graders. Last year, they only scored 2 goals the whole season! So the improvement has been huge. And they've only had soccer at the school for a few years. St. Frederick definitely has a lot of talent. This is very evident after seeing them in action. But what I wanted to post is the way they play,... they play dirty. I have never seen a team that, KICKS, shoves, and pushes opponents intentionally so many times. They got several yellow cards, numerous warnings, etc. They should be reprimanded for such actions, and so should the coach. It was definitely not what most soccer teams would want to be known for. They have the talent and should be proud of that. Now they need to learn how to play with good character and sportmanship. Get ready to see more of West Fel next season. They are full of energy, excitement and passion for the game and ready to win!! And yes, I am a West Fel parent!! Good luck to everyone moving on up in the finals!

I will agree the field was in bad shape, but that was due to rain for the previous 2 days. I'm sure no fields were in very good condition around the state (several games rescheduled). st fred is not dirty, they are aggressive yes, but they do not go out with intent to hurt anyone. Sometimes fouls look worse on a slick field, because the players cannot stop their momentum. I watched three occassions where WF players bumped the SF keeper, is that dirty play? on a dry field possibly on a slick field it happens. Now, as far as the WF fans, classless is the only word to describe them. Cheer your team, don't verbally assault the other teams players with threats of bodily harm. And don't say it didn't happen because one fan was escorted away from the field because of it. Good luck, Warriors.

both teams had to play on the field so that is of no consequence. As for ST. F playing dirty, what about the WF players bumping to goalie after his saves? Don't forget that WF players were also cautioned. One was sent off because of his foul language. Tell the whole truth about the game. Most teams know that SF plays a physical game so that is no surprise to anyone. I think you took SF for granted and WF was not prepared to end their season so soon. Remeber that the score and ask yourself if you were not a little emotional when you wrote your response to the game.

How will St. Frederick do against St. Louis in the Quarterfinals?

Nope, I'm not emotional over this at all, and wasn't when I wrote the post. I wasnt aware of a WF fan being escorted off. I am sorry that happened, but yet can't be accountable for fans behavior. I think the team should hold a higher standard than the fans, though. As far as calling our fans classless, I'm not sure what you mean by that!! We have an unbelievable support system for the guys, unlike most schools have for soccer. In fact, there were several SF parents saying they thought our fan support was great, and they 'wanted to take notes and learn from it'. As I stated before, SF played a great game, and have a great team. I was simply wondering about the field situation and not happy with the continuous kicking. But hey, maybe you are right. Maybe the slipping and sliding contributed to unintentional kicking. I am happy for our team, they've had a great year. And I wish SF well.

You have got to be kidding me Luvthegame. First off, when you stated that the field was in bad condition you were correct, but IT HAS BEEN RAINING ALL WEEK AND SF GIRLS JUST PLAYED A GAME ON THE PITCH THE NIGHT BEFORE. SF field is by far the best field in the area and it is a HOME game, therefore it must be played on our field, not a neutral field. As for playing dirty, remind yourself that this is high school soccer and not a game for 5 year old girls. Also, I recall West Feliciana players rising to meet the physical play you talked about. If your gonna talk about sportsmanship you should consult your fans. They had alot to say. Taking dives is uncalled for. Your players seemed to grunt as loud as humanly possible whenever they fell. To be frank, I could care less what grade your players are in. We shall be happy to dish it out again next year.
All in all, the pitch was sloppy but unavoidable. The score remains 4-0 in favor of SF. I would be willing to bet that on a dry field we would have beat you at least 7 to nothing. Soccer mommys and daddys who cant face reality should refrain from polluting this site.
P.S.- your fans should chant "SAINTS" during the game and not after. Also, lose the bulhorn theres no place for it in high school soccer as it is annoying and not very encouraging when you CANT UNDERSTAND WHAT THE SPEAKER IS SAYING.

like i said we shall be more than happy to play yall again next year. that is assuming you make it as the wildcard and that the brackets dont change. if so the demise of your team will be both tragic and poetic ;D while maintaining the class of a soccer match between 2 catholic schools.
