I was sitting down eating pizza and watching William Hung's performance from American Idol, and I began thinking. William seems to be a middle man....good student and not a bad singer if you listen and don't watch him. I think there are several people on soccer soccer teams that maybe don't stand out and score all the goals, but get a lot of assists. Role players, such as those chosen first off the bench each game rather than starting in a position. Those players who can and do play every position on the field and never complain. I think these players are what make a championship team. I guess, I would like to start a thread about all the players who step it up and make their team better, but nobody ever realizes just how much. As I have watched games this year, I have found a few players who are solid, make their team better, and really don't get a lot of mention. I wouid appreciate it if all those who follow highschool soccer post some players you can think of that really don't get too much mention but without that person, the team really takes a hit. Post them as you think of them....this is just a way to say "You haven't gone unnoticed.."
Goodwin - Acadiana......in my opinion he is the one that will beat you up top, not because he is faster or stronger, but because he is patient with speed and good touch. Defenses forget about him and he makes them pay a lot of the time.
Pierce - Lafayette.....big, strong, good touch, and was the stopper last year and I think this year too, not sure now, b/c I haven't seen them play in a while. Everyone talked about the back line last year, and very few realize he was a big part of it. The silent senior, who gets on the field and makes the middle that much stronger for LHS.
if you can think of some others, please post.

great thread hdkiga, goodwin is the heart and sole of the ram team in my opinion, he lets his soccer skills talk for him. he never gets carded and is always focused on the task at hand. i was just telling mcsruff that he is a class act on and off the field. he has the best manners of any 17 year old kid i know. he works on his game all the time and always picks players up when they are down. i know he reads this board and he knows who i am so let me just say thanks goodie you have made this a great year for me and my son, keep up the good work. oh one more thing you and ,(my son), better not burn your girlfriends dinner tomorrow night! lol.

Wright - Sulphur...... has played front, middle and back. Rarely loses a challange in the air. Would rather get the assist than the goal. Plays with a little fire. Great kid too!
Guidry - Sulphur ...... plays the middle, inside and out. When on the outside wiil sprint the line all night. Always looks for the open pass before he tries to beat you. Can bury the ball from afar. Walks away from every foul against him. Been playing hurt all year. Heart of a champion.
Williams - Sulphur ..... plays the back line. Mr. Shutdown. You have a horse, he shuts him down. Love to watch him put his head down and see nothing but the ball when he's defending you.

STM- Steven Hernandez, he is probably the best defender that i have seen in high school soccer this year, he combines his speed with his unbelievable touch and shuts down the opponents. he is the reason along with the rest of STM's back line that they had zero goals scored on them in district. if you have a chance to see this guy play do it.

i think hdkiga was talking about players who aren't considered impact player. hernandez is defintly an impact player. as a matter of fact he is probably the best soccer player on stm. i think a role player from stm would be someone like Paulie,(patrick lewis), or payton. both of those kids go out and do the dirty work game after game.

Lewis, Bienvenu, and Onebane - STM Haven't heard of them? Thats because they fit the description of UNNOTICED ROLE PLAYERS.

My mother has been to the last 2 Acadiana games....and made it to a couple of the good matches during the season and she is absolutely high on Chris Credeur from Acadiana.

your mother is a smart lady! chris is playing great soccer for the rams! he is a class act and does whatever the coach ask him to do. he is one of those kids who never gets carded for his mouth.
he always comes ready to play and he leads by example.

Many people think that Credeur is the best defender on Acadiana, which would make him one of the best in the state. I really don't think he fits under the role player category.
One Acadiana player who gets little run on the board but is very good is Chris Wilks. In fact, he scored Acadiana's only goal last night.
For Lafayette, I think Blake Hardy would be an excellent choice. He can absolutely put on a clinic on the wing. He played another excellent game last night. He rarely gets mentioned, but would be a star on most other teams.
Fur Sulphur, imeg (#7). I don't think he played wing last night, but I think he played all 80 on the back line. Correct me if I'm wrong about that imeg. He came up with some big stops and won a lot of 50/50's.
That big guy, Tim, for Westgate is good, too. He has some of the lightest feet and ball skills I have ever seen on a guy that big. He has surprising speed too. He scored a really nice goal in Westgate's final game against Lafayette.
