Any predictions?... I want to say St. Pauls as an upset, but I don't think I can, but St. Pauls will go strong but lose 2-1.

Even though it will be a tough match; I do not think that there will be any upset. Rummel 3 St. Pauls 1

Long time reader...first time writer.
I showed up at the game for the second half. When I arrived, it was 1-1. I don't know who scored first. The second half was dominated by Rummel, but they were not able to score. I think that St. Paul only had two or three opportunities on the Rummel goal in the second half compared to about twenty for Rummel. Fortunately for them, the defense held and the game ended regulation tied 1-1. In the first overtime, St. Paul's took the lead on a set piece. It was taken from about 40 out and the ball was chipped to the far post. The ball was volleyed far post and the keeper was unable to save it. The first OT ended with the score 2-1 St. Paul's although Rummel dominated again. In the second OT, Rummel again controlled the game. The St. Paul would clear the ball and the Rummel defenders would quickly play it back into the offensive third. Eventually, Rummel was awarded a penalty kick...for what I do not know. It happened at the other end of the field and I didn't have a good vantage point. The Rummel left midfielder had palyed the ball in and several players all went up for the ball at the same time. The result was a pk. The Rummel shot it low and to his left, and the game was tied again 2-2. Two golden goal periods later the game went to a shootout. In the shootout, St. Paul's shot first. The player struck it left footed directly at the keeper who didn't guess. He reacted tot he ball and saved it easily. The first Rummel shooter played the ball to his left and scored easily. The next kicker for St. Paul played the ball to the keeper's left, and it was saved by the keeper. It was about shoulder high and not very far away. The next Rummel shooter played the ball high and to his left and scored. The third St. Paul Shooter missed the entire goal badly. He played it to his right, and I believe that he tried to kick it too hard. The third and final kicker for Rummel played the ball to his right and struck the ball well. The keeper made a very good attempt but failed.
Overall, I feel the better team won. The St. Paul defense did well to keep the game close, and more importantly St. Paul capitilized on thier oppurtunities. The St. Paul keeper guessed right on each attempt in the shootout but was unable to save any of the attempts. The result, Rummel wins the shootout 3-0 which results in a final score of 3-2.
I realize this is a bit long winded, but I have to say that from a completely unbiased fan neither of these teams were that impressive. Rummel was able to string some passes together, and they continually played the ball up the left side, but they were unable to generate many "good" scoring oppurtunities. And, when those oppurtunities did present themselves, they were unable to capitalize. St. Paul's did well to limit those oppurtunities, and it seemed to me that the problem St. Paul had in the game was there was a huge whole in the middle of the field. The central midfielders would suck back into the defense leaving a void in the middle of the field.

St. Paul's scored first, approx. 9 minutes into the game, on a set piece from about 35 yards out. Crossed it to the far post, ball knocked around, Rummel unable to clear, ball put in. The rest of the half dominated by Rummel, who tied it at half. Second half more of the same with Rummel, for the most part, controlling the action but unable to put it in. St. Paul's speed was scary at times. St. Paul's scored in first OT (again on a set piece), Rummel in second OT. Game eventually won by Rummel in shootout. It was impressive the way Rummel controlled the midfield. St. Paul's defense was good, would bend but not break. This sets up a repeat of last year's semis between Rummel and Lafayette. As we know, Lafayette won it last year in OT. Should be a great game. Hats off to St. Pauls for a good game and a fine season.

this will be a great game! lafayette will definently test the rummel defense and rummel will give the lions mildfield a run for their money. in the end lafayette's offensive punch will be to much for rummel.
