One reason Jesuit may be so good year after year is that they are one of the largest schools in the state and it is a boys only school. Pure numbers help them out. I read where Acadiana only has 40 or so boys tryout every year. Jesuit has 8th, 9th, JV, and Varsity teams. Shreve and Magnet are just like Acadiana with 35 -40 boys try out. Shreve needed 3 or 4 players to swing to both teams to give the JV team a sub or two during matches. Jesuit has over 2000 boys. Shreve has 500. I think that is a huge advantage to some of the New Orleans schools. Jesuit, Brother Martin and Rummell are three of the largest schools in the state. They should be among the best teams in the state year in and year out.

I don't think you can say Jesuit is alway good based just on the population of their school. Look at Foutainbleu and West Monroe. they are the two biggest schools in the state and don't have the elite soccer programs that some other schools have. i think a lot of it has to do with reputation now. Kids that are coming up through select programs and want win a state championship know that they have a good chance of doing this at a school similar to jesuit.

Very true, numbers help and a history of being a top program helps even more. Good players want to go to good programs if they can.

Population definatly helps the schools ability to compete in sports. West Monroe may not be good at soccer, but if you look at their football or baseball team they're both top notch. I don't know too much about Foutainbleu, but they dont have an easy district to play in, and I'm sure their baseball team is pretty good also.

at fonatainebleau, the football team is usually pretty good, they got 2nd in district, the basketball team is pretty good also and im sure that the baseball team will be pretty good this year too, so theres not usually that much attention for soccer so they arent always that great. but in a couple of years they should be able to make the playoffs.

Jesuit is NOT that good this year. They can be beaten. Several teams have done it this year, Rummel, BM, Catholic. Yeah, they have B.J. and Dane back(how Jesuit and the other schools did that I will never understand ) This year..it's not a shoo-in.....any of the teams can win it all. Just play hard and don't give up.
