I'd like to start off by saying i'm am OC fan. There I said it. I am proud of these kids this year, after losing scoring and defense last year they have played up and down throughout the season and now have won another round in the playoff's. Way to go. I'ts true St Louis is talented and well coached, they are probably going to turn out to be the John Curtis oc La high school soccer. Best of luck to all teams in all divisions, enjoy competing, enjoy each moment as it comes, and try even in the heat of the competition to look at the guy on the field next to you and realize he is trying to win and be happy just as you are and after the game you guys all can be friends. just a thought

Well put - I agree. You guys have really done well for barely making the playoffs by the skin of your teeth. I think you guys can beat St. Martins without a doubt now. I wasn't sure before but you guys have scratched and clawed your way through. It doesn't matter what happens now, just look at it like this, there are only 4 teams left in Div. III in the state of L.a. and you guys are one of them! Good Luck -

great article and congrats to OC, but one question who is the stat person? the paper said the keeper had 42 saves!! that over one saves every 2 min. that my friends is impossible. especially when OC score three goals. i'm not putting down the keeper it sounds like he play a very good game but i dought he saved 42 shots in one game.

Not sure about a history, but I do know it's his second time this season. Last month he was sent for running into the field to see about an injury without the referee's permission. I don't know any details, though.

That does seem a bit high... I'm sure it was a typo or simply wrong. Anyway, congrats to the Vikes!

Here is an article on BTR paper, which is based on UHS parent's report. www.2theadvocate.com/stories/021704/spo_opcath001.shtmlThe Opelousas paper was not on the mark about Tucker Smith's saves (42???) and when they each scored. UHS's second goal came pretty late in the game, rather than two minutes after OC's 3rd goal, as reported by the Opelousas paper. The Opelousas article, however, has a very nice picture of the first goal by OCHS. About UHS coach's being thrown out, I don't know exactly what happened at OCHS game. OCHS goalie (Smith) was charged by a UHS player, and BEFORE that player got a yellow, the coach received a red. Probably the foul language due to the frustration by poor officiating (see Div III Playoff Games thread, if you are interested). No, UHS coach doesn't have a history of being thrown out. He was thrown out at Episcopal game, but it was more for his concern for the goalie who was hurt. It was another very poorly officiated game, by the way. I don't remember him ever being thrown out last year. Cogratulations on OCHS, and good luck againt St. Martin's.
