Division I:
Lafayette[/i]: Woodlawn (home, 12-0); H.L. Bourgeois (away, 4-1); Sulphur (away, 3-1).
Acadiana[/i]: Baton Rouge (home, 5-0), Catholic BR (home, 1-0), Northshore (home, 3-1).
Rummel[/i]: Hahnville (home, 8-1); Destrehan (away, 4-0); St. Paul's (home, 3-2 shootout).
Jesuit[/i]: Mandeville (home, 4-1); Slidell (away, 8-1); Central Lafourche (home, 5-3).
I think Jesuit and Acadiana have had equally tough roads so far. Rummel has had an easy road. Lafayette's was even easier.
Division II:
Pineville[/i]: DeRidder (away, 3-0); Loyola (home, 3-2).
Ben Franklin[/i]: Dutchtown (away, 4-0); Salmen (home, 4-0).
St. Thomas More[/i]: Parkway (home, 8-0); Alexandria (home, 1-0).
Vandebilt[/i]: Neville (home, 8-1); McKinley (away, 4-0).
Pretty even for all four. Franklin probably has had the toughest by a slight margin.
Division III:
St. Louis[/i]: Grace Christian (home, 8-0); St. Frederick (home; 6-0).
St. Thomas Aquinas[/i]: Episcopal BR (home, 7-1); Newman (away, 2-0).
Opelousas Catholic[/i]: Menard (away, 3-1); University (home, 3-2).
St. Martin's[/i]: Pope John Paul (home, 3-0); E.D. White (away, 2-1).
St. Thomas Aquinas had had the toughest road. St. Louis and St. Martin's have had equally easy roads.

I'm liking the Division II Semifinals. Probably the best 4 teams that's been in the Semi-finals in Division II in a long time. Usually, there's only 2 good teams left, and they are playing each other, and the finals ends up being a blowout.

the toughest road to the finals in Division II is no doubt always from the bottom half of the bracket. When you have the state champion coming from the bottom half of the bracket for the last 6 or 7 years, you know that getting to the finals from that group is tough.

I don't know how you can say that Rummel has had an easy road after beating St. Paul's in a shootout. Also, neither of Lafayette's last two games were as "easy" as the scores might indicate. I don't think you can say that any road to the semifinals was "easy" Not in DI, anyway.

i think acadiana rosd was pretty tough, i am glad the road led to our house the first three games but that was just the luck of the draw. cath. was agreat game and the northshore game was a real physical game. now we hit the road for real as we try an break jesuits winning string.

I don't like this because this will for sure give people an excuse to why they lost or they won. I'm sure every team still works just as hard even when they are paired up with a team not up to their level. It is your right to post this - I just think that if Lafayette wins State everyone will say, well it's because they had an easy road to the playoffs.

scout,
I tend to agree with you, but in all honesty...noone in Division I will be able to win state without playing a tough road. All 4 quarter final games were very good games, the 2 semis are extremely good and the final will be awesome. That means whoever wins state will have played and beaten 3 top 10 teams to win it all. I don't think anyone has a n excuse to say why they didn't win it all. If you get on the field and play and win, you earned it.

Correct. This post only had to do with getting to the semifinals. When all is said and done, whoever wins the state title will have had a very tough road.

I agree w/ both of you. I understand why you posted this and I think it does serve some merit. I think all of us on the forum know what I'm talking about though, someone, somewhere will post that they didn't win or make it because they had tougher teams to play along the way. BUT - That is what makes teams good, playing above their level, preparing them for what's next. I think no matter what, if you made it to the playoffs it's not gonna be a cake walk -
