This player would get my vote! :-)...and she plays for Ben Franklin..probably not as good as the girls listed, but she gets lucky every now and then

Gotta love you Soccerdad; you must be the quintessential "sand-bagger"! Obviously your Ben Franklin player was a rather inexplicable and conspicuous omission among those listed. Rather than provide a list of players with gaudy goal stats, that are often padded by goals in "garbage time", i.e, the game is out of hand, and/or against obviously inferior competition, I would rather know the following: How many goals did a player score in games where their team was down by a goal, in order to tie the game up; or up by just a goal [to perhaps put a nail in the coffin so to speak]; or, to break a tie, or goals scored in an overtime, i.e, in "crunch" time. We all know that old frame gets smaller as the clock ticks down. I certainly have nothing against the players listed as I'm sure they are all fantastic. My comments were more general as to how stats can be misleading and can be highly dependent on the quality of competition, particularly at the high school level.

There is little doubt by any objective measure that the best finisher in the Southeast Region is Ben Franklins Alex Thomas. I have seen her train and play and Alex deserves all the accolades received and will continue to in the future. Let me stop there...

Any list of attacking stars on the girl's side has to start with Ben Franklin's Alex Thomas and SSA's Courtney Robicheaux and goals scored probably isn't the story teller. Most of the really talented players participate on teams that play stiff competition and don't have those 7-0 results which pad the stats or they have coaches who do not allow them to collect meaningless garbage goals.

High school is not the best ruler to measure the best attacking players. The level of play is all over the place. When you look at what these players are doing on their club teams against the best players, then you can truly measure who is the best. Using club as a ruler - nothing changes. Thomas and Robicheaux are phenomenal (both committed to SEC schools last I heard). These are two of the best attacking players in the southeast. Who can you put up against these two? I would add Natalie Presedo from Baton Rouge High and reiterate Mackenzie Manuel from Mandeville as some great attacking underclassmen. Both are superior players in club as well. Ive seen some other great players from PJP (Cutura?), Houma soccer club u16 (#20), Shreveport u16 (#10) and a girls from shreveport u17's (Montes?) but I don't know these young ladies names. Maybe some of you can fill in the gaps.

Mak from Mandeville is great. I have watched quite a few of her club games and she can bring it in a crunch time. I heard Julia from Walker is out with a knee injury so hopefully she can recover and get back at it. I will also add Alexis Larimore from Denham Springs. She is also a crunch time scorer.

Maybe my thinking is a little different from the path of this post, but attacking players don't exactly mean finishers. In this case you would have to put Pratt and Higginson from Franklin on this list because everything goes through them. Otillio and Moser from SSA because everything goes through them. Vice from UA is extremely solid and S. Jordan at Northshore. Santos will be a large part of Lakeshore's attack and I a sure there are a host of others.
I agree with HKN, high school is not a great gauge and finishing is a rare art at higher levels. However, the best attackers are the players who create the goal scoring opportunities whether or not they are the finisher. A lucky forward once said, "I am only as good as the people who work their tails off to serve e up!"

I think that ballhandlers and playmakers deserve their own thread for the valuable role they play in attack....the MF players mentioned above are all in that conversation.
For every Messi and Ronaldo, there is a Xavi, Iniesta, or Modric creating and facilitating goals. Additionally, you have outside backs who get forward to provide goals and service (Alves, Lahm)...all are valuable in attack.
But if you ask the Real Madrid or Barca managers who their best attackers are, they are going to say their very talented, 1v1, ball at your feet, finishers....
I'm very excited about the Playmaker/Creative/Ballhandler thread...compiling list now.
