I saw this thread on BigSoccer and thought it was interesting. What are some different pre-game rituals or superstitions that anybody has?

I sit down and put on my cleats very slowly...I loosen up the laces to about half way down, and as I'm getting them just right I think about the game, and what I've got to do...I think about plays and about the ball and what I can do in a certain situation......it really helps me to get focused. It usually takes me about 5 minutes to get them on before a game. I can be tying my normal shoes and I find myself doing the same thing...I guess by habit.

Wow, that's really really weird, heh. Sometimes I think if you concentrate too much then you end up jinxing yourself.

When I'm getting ready for a big game, it's always A Perfect Circle cd in the locker room, then on the field.......I always go left then right........left shin guard, right shin guard, etc..........and always wearing the same undershirt for every game (but i do wash it)

I always pulled on my long johns and jeans. Put on a couple of extra undershirts. Put on my Sulphur hat, Sulphur soccer shirt, blue fleece jacket and my big Dallas Cowboys coat with the hood. Loaded my propane heater, making sure I had an extra bottle of propane, and grabbed my digital camera. Same thing every time! Not as exciting or ritualistic as all the other posts but then I'm just a parent and fan.

You guys have good taste in music. Tool and APC are great to listen to before games, especially tool. Good mood setter.

sounds lame i guess, but i don't do a thing before a game. i may listen to a good cd but i don't do much. i don't think it helps, just being ready for what's ahead and doing what comes naturally helps. and if it's a big game and a lot is at stake, remind myself how important it is to play well. that's all you really need to do
