Now Lafayette's D will have to play even better against Jesuit. If they don't Jesuit will be adding another trophy to their trophy case.

Lafayette played an outstanding game. Don't let this one game take away from what Rummel's defense accomplished over the length of the season - 24-6-1 with 18 shutouts and, all losses before the Lafayette game were by 1 goal. The Raiders played their worst half of soccer in the second half. But, as I have posted numerous other times, Lafayette had alot to do with that. My compliments to the Lions, they have earned my respect and good luck against the Blue Jays. But, yeah1426, no need to kick the Raiders and their defense when they are down. The only goal was a PK, but they had to be in position to score in order for it to be called. They also had other chances, put one off the crossbar. But, the Raiders lost and congrats to the Lions.

I think in this game Lafayette showed that their D can play with solid teams.....Lafayette's defense is outstanding, but in my opinion, Rummel's defense is the best defense in the state. The difference Sat. was that Lafayette is the best offense in the state and Rummel's offense is not quite that calibur. They are good, but Rummel wins a lot of games only scoring 1 or 2 goals. That means their defense held a lot of good teams to less. I think Rummel is a very good team. I was a little shocked that they lost their cool in the last 10 minutes, but I have played in those types of games, and you get desperate as a player. Rummel had a great year and I am sure they will continue as a top 10 team for the next few years.

Well said - you have a good handle on the raider's season; and you are totally correct about losing their cool in the semis.

I'm not trying to say the refs called a bad game, but rummel's pk in the first half was definately a pk. The rummel forward tried dribbling around the keeper and the keeper dove and clipped the rummel players leg. I don't think it was worth a yellow but it was definately a foul and it was in the box. Lafayettes first goal was a good one, Rummels defense fell asleep and lafayette took advantage of it. The second goal , everyone told me that it was supposed to be a goal kick, but i didn't see it, so im not going to comment. The pk for Lafayette was a questionable call. The rummel keeper didnt push the lafayette player back to the ground or anything like that. When the keeper was getting up he ran a few steps then tried to dive ove rthe lafayette player and at one point in all of this the keepers hands ended up on the lafayette player. All in all it was an excelent game and the better team won.
Good luck to lafayette in the finals and rummel will have as good of a season, if ot a better one next year.

Lafayette's PK was a good call....it was just about even with me. Keeper came out and made a good save on a breakaway and the two collided and both were on the ground. The Lafayette player was in between the keeper and the ball(which was about 5 feet away). The Lafayette player was getting up to run after then ball and the keeper jumped and grabbed the Lafayette player to prevent him form getting to the ball. The Lafayette player acted a little by throwing his arms, but the keeper did grab him form behind and it was a deserved PK and probably a card if the slide tackle from the Lafayette keeper in the first half was card-worthy. Ref did a good job. In my opinion, I don't think the Rummel pk was a foul because the keeper hit the ball away from the attacker, but then again, I was not the one in red running up and down the field. Overall, it was what I expect from two top teams in the state playing to advance to the championship. Very exciting and entertaining game.

hdkjga, we are both contradcting ouselves because i am saying that the lafayette pk was a bogus one nd the rummel pk was good and you are saying that opposite we arent going to get anywhere with this so lets just say both were good calls since tey cant be changed

One PK became a good call after the precedent had been set by the first PK call. Both could have not been called, or both could have been called. In this case, both were called. How about we call the final score 2-0?
