I think I am gonna play "Fight The Power" during the warmup tonight before the West Monroe v. Zachary game in honor of CoachRay. Does it have cuss words? You can't be worried about cuss words when you fight the power, man! You're just giving into the power then!

What exactly would be the penalty of a state not following the NFHS handbook if it decided not to based on majority vote of school principals? And does anyone know of a rule in the handbook not followed? Or conversely, a rule implemented (mercy rule?) but not in the handbook? My quote from another thread. NFHS says that states do not have to follow rules but run risk of losing representation on rules committee. . NFHS Handbook: "STATE ASSOCIATIONS are not required to use NFHS playing rules. However, most states use NFHS playing rules for most sports. If a state is to have representation on a committee, it must, in all material respects, follow the NFHS playing rules for that sport (or employ more restrictive rules) for the reason that people who use a given set of rules are likely to be the most knowledgeable about them. If the rules give an option, a state may mandate either and retain membership on the committee. Typically, NFHS rules place a major emphasis on risk minimization, balance between offense and defense, preservation of the sound traditions of the sport in question, and efficiency in administration of contests.." That quote right there, straight out of the NFHS Handbook, shows that the NFHS is clueless when it comes to their own rules. The colorfulness of the uniform is one of the soundest traditions of the sport worldwide. So how do we approach NFHS about this? As a parent I don't have access to the NFHS Handbook (restricted to members only), but I will send e-mails, etc., to whomever needs to get them.

Regarding the white jersey rule. I just hear Rage Against the Machine - Killing in the name playing over and over again.
What is the NFHS going to do if we don't abide by the rules? Seriously?

They'll take us off the rules committee. So basically we won't get to vote on what other rules we won't follow anyway. That'd be like a school telling a kid that consistently breaks the rules that he won't get to be on the school board rules revision committee. Not much will change at the end of the day. It would be fun for everyone to troll them by wearing Hanes T-shirts at home in the playoffs like Acadiana did last year.

My take--lets all just wear what we want and not worry about it. 3/4's of the refs dont even care, so as long as the uniforms are different--whats the big deal?
Oh, and the rule i read only really says the SOCKs have to be solid white--meaning mainly white jerseys (more white stripes than other color?) could be "acceptable.
Starting today, my team will wear whatever I want us to wear, and will not conflict with the other team. If I get a yellow so what? Wont be the first time. We should all take the Oregon Ducks approach to uniforms. We have three strips thanks to some of my college fraternity brothers kicking in some dough, so we are gonna pimp ourselves out and worry about the fall out later. Staying on Pauls RATM theme: "It has to start somewhere, it has to start somehow, what better place than here..what better place than NOW?"

Higher seed hosts semi-finals . . . passes with 63.4 percent of vote. Does that go into effect this year for soccer, or starting next season? Prob next year, didn't have effective immediately in wording. It looks like it takes effect THIS year (according to NOLA.com) Higher seeds to host all football, soccer semifinal matchups, per LHSAA vote"Higher seeds will host all football and soccer semifinal matchups, according to a revision to an LHSAA by-law for the 2014-15 school year.
Principals voted in favor of the rules change Friday as the LHSAA's annual convention came to a close, with 63.4 percent of those in attendance supporting the proposal.
The rule, as stated, also includes baseball, basketball, softball and volleyball, but each of those sports currently plays its semifinal round on neutral sites as part of state tournaments."(complete article at link above.)

It seems to me that football semifinals for the 2014-2015 school year occurred 2 months ago. Does this affect the 2015-2016 school year, or upcoming soccer tourney and next year's football? Pardon my confusion.

Pardon my confusion. I agree that it's confusing. I haven't seen the notes yet from the Convention, but in the agenda, it alos says 2014-15 so I think it should go into effect for soccer this year. Here's a snapshot of the agenda... (from page 17) Attachment Deleted
