Lafayette in a very close game 1-0...both defenses are strong with good goalkeepers so it will take a defensive breakdown for either team to score. Both teams are well coached and reduce this breakdowns to a minimum.
Franklin in extra time 1-0...two teams that play their best against each other. Franklin knows that they can beat Vandy...they already did this season.
St. Louis big 3-0...too much talent for anyone in Division III...they have the talent to win any division this year. They already beat Lafayette High.

I actually think that Jesuit will take DI. I just think they know how to win that game and will do it again, despite the fact that Laffy's probably a better team. Vandy and STL are definite.

Ben Franklin in a real sense only tied Vandy when they beat them in PKs. The LHSAA calls it a win, but a soccer purist, which is something the LHSAA cannot claim to be, a overtime tie is a tie, and the team that wins the shootout is said to advance on pks. That is the way it is around the world.
So, my picks for Division II are Vandy 3, Ben Franklin 0. Vandy will come out with their guns blazing and it will overpower Ben Franklin.
There is a long history between these two teams. It should be another playooff classic.

Fine. Ben Franklin beat Vandy in a shootout. That is the way the LHSAA defines it. Nevermind that FIFA doesn't define it that way. The rules were written before the season so I cannot argue with that. But to go on about how Ben Franklin proved themselves with a shootout win is a bit of a stretch for me. It won't make a difference, even after tonights game. The only thing that will matter is tonight's game. And if the winner should win on pks, they will be the legitimate state champions. But the records of the team should still be listed as a tie, but then again, when did the LHSAA ever do anything properly when it comes to soccer?

I'm not sure why the LHSAA keeps it's records the way they do. I remember this being a topic of debate last year with Jesuit because they had a bunch of shootout wins. The National Federation of State High School Associations, in which the LHSAA is a member, states the rule as: "A match that is decided by a shootout is to be considered a tie by both teams involved." I'm off to the Championship match.
