who was the biggest let down? who did you think was going to do all the way and they did not do a thing?
And who was the biggest surprise? who did you think was not going to do any thing and did well?

I think a big shock for me was how hyped Shreve was and then to get beat in the first round at home by 3. That shocked me.....not so much that they lost to Sulphur, but the score.

Gotta stick up for our school here. The match was 2-0 with 20 minutes to go when our coach took Jeremy Wimer out of the goal to try and put him up top to get some offense going. Jeremy was the area'a leading scorer his sophomore year when Shreve had another good keeper. The keeper we put in was a very inexperienced keeper who had mainly played JV. He gave up 3 goals that Jeremy would have stopped. 2 were misplays on direct kicks and one was a cross that a more experienced keeper would have come out and caught. Had Wimer stayed in goal, my feeling is the score would have been 2-0 or 2-1. We still lose, but it doesn't look as bad. Fault the coach for not having another keeper trained, but he thought it was the only way he could jump start the offense. It looks bad to those that didn't know what was going on. Shows the need for a strong experienced backup at the keeper position.

Possible biggest letdown was Caddo. From what I had read here I thought they were going far. Guess that what I get for getting my info on here. Caddo Magnet met a tough CL team in the regionals... So how could they be an upset... That was the first time they allowed 2 goals all YEAR!! That is a huge accomplishment... CL turn around and loss to Jesuit who is in the finals!! If you are complaining that the information is bad here do us all a favor... Stop getting your information from here since you do not like it... If you dont have something positive to post then dont post it at all

Clgk is on the money. Caddo Magnet lost to a good team in the second round. The kids posting about them were their players and you should expect them to be positive. If you go by rankings, the only teams in D1 you could say were the biggest letdowns were Shreve and Brother Martin. However, both lost to good teams in the first round. I told goat in a PM before the match with Sulphur I thought it would be a 1 goal match and I wouldn't be surprised if it went either way. Brother Martin just had a bad draw. No reason those two should meet in a first round match.

biggest suprise to me was opelousas catholic doing as well as they did. the biggest suprise in div.1 was the st paul win over BM i didn't give the northshore teams as much credit as they deserved. i wasn't suprised by sulphur ya'll probably remember i picked them to win in the first round. i was also suprised at how good catholic of baton rouge was. i really think they may be the team from outside of dist. 3 and dist 9, that makes the most nosies next year.
we talked about how good div.1 was this year but in the end there were no suprises dist. 3 and 9 still dominate.

I never expected Caddo to go anywhere, nor will I ever expect them to get passed regionals in the playoffs, unless they get lucky like Northshore.

wow manchurianman wrote "I have to agree that Opelousas Catholic surprised me as they did many people on how well they did in the playoffs." that makes three times we have agreed on something.
i don't know manchurianman if this keeps up i may have to rethink my whole soccer thought process! lol!

Disapointments: Nothing major, I just thought some of them would have done better. I know they are in the finals, but at the beginning of the year everyone thought Jesuit would go undefeated. They did not even win thier district. Hey losing 2-4 games is not bad at all. Winning state is the most impotant thing and will wash away everything during the season. Covington was also a disapointment, who's fault was this error (not the players). I also thought Carencro was going to be great. Capt. Shreve was a huge let down.
Suprises We all knew Rummel would be good, but not this good. They won Dist. 9 & made it to the semis. I never thought that Cath. BR was going to be so good. Sulphur finished 4th in district and made the quarters. It may not have suprised some of you but I thought that Lafayette was a year away from being the best team in the state. I thought they were young and needed more experience. But look at them now.

My biggest surprise and upset was Catholic of BR. They surprised me when they beat jesuit, and when i actually got to see them play a quality team like Carencro. But 2 definite let downs: losing to St.Amant and Acadiana (even though it wasnt an upset or anything, bc Acadiana is definitly a good team), I thought Catholic shouldev been able to get by them. Next year Catholics returning just about everyone, look for them to be stronger than ever. If the bears have good coaching, look for them to be at the top.

the biggest let down to me was Hahnville.. now they werent expected to go all the way but i thought they would at least go a few rounds into the playoffs.. thats just who i thought was a big let down I did not expect hahnville to go anywheres... CL totally dismantalted them in district play... put a score of 9-0 with the varsity and JV added 3 more to top it off in the 2nd half... They had players walkin off sayin they quit.. Now it is possible that they had an off game because that is the only time i saw them play... So your preception is just as good as mine

Pineville surprised me in how well they played. They did exceptionaly well and werent expected to make it to far in the playoffs and ended up in the semis and frightened Ben Franklin.
