I think the powers of district 3 will all be there again. I think Westgate, Comeaux, and Barbe will have stronger teams next year and may be able to make a little noise, Acadiana loses alot of talent, time will tell how they regroup.....I am sure Lucious will have them back in contention next year. Cro and Sulphur lose talent and playmakers, but they will fill those spots. Lafayette will obviously be really good next year.....truth be known, I thought Lafayette's chance to win it all would have been next year, but they decided to move that up a year.

Slidell is losing 8 seniors, all eight started at one time. We are returning 5 people who have started at least 1 game. We had a decent class of Freshman this year and a lot of them will start next year. Four freshman gained valuable experience this year with one starting all eighteen, one subbing in in thirteen, another subbing in in around thirteen with one start and one who got experience in around 5 games. Also we had 6 or 7 juniors gain a lot of experience and had the same thing with one sophmore. Don't expect Slidell to much of a threat, things will be worse than this year was.

acadiana is losing 6 starters and the first two subs off the bench. all eight players contributed to the success of the team. returning will be leblanc, wilks, credeur, saboe, latiolais. this is a very good core group. look for Warren, leger, villen, hebert, Casebonne, and rodriquez to step up along with three or four other players, remember lafayette has always had the depth and more over all talent but the rams always play great team soccer. the favored in dist. 3 will be lafayette followed by acadiana! cro westgate sulphur will fight it out for the next spots.

After watching the DIII final, I would expect St. Martin's to coast to a state final next year, if their roster is correct. Because from what I saw, only one senior actually played significant minutes. Their first sub was a sophomore, I believe. That means they have something like 8 sophomores who ran the show. STL looks like they will be much weaker next year. While they will return Thevenot, no more Lapira and a host of others, which could signal a rough season next year. Also, does anyone know what year STL's sweeper (#12) is?

Sulphur is losing a whole lot. 8 of their starters are leaving. They also didnt have many underclassmen come off the bench, so they have alot of holes to fill but i think they should be ok.

In Baton Rouge, McKinley is losing 12 seniors (8 starters). Only one junior has lettered every year. I think their coach may be leaving, too.

#12 is Miller Flynt. He is a senior and a darn good player. He switched positions this year and was just awesome!

Catholic (B.R.) only loses 7 seniors: 4 started, 1 subbed up top, 1 was back-up goalie, and 1 was out for the season after a knee injury in a scrimmage against Acadiana. The starters were 2 mid fielders and the pair of wingers. Catholic's attacking third is the same and will be very strong. Their back line remains as well and will be stronger. Look out for the bears next year as Coach Kevin Landry really starts his dynasty.

Thanks Scout. I was only asking because he really impressed me last night. I expected Lapira to be his usual self, but #12 was out of this world. Without him, the game would have been very different. He is a very good player.

Hate to say it, but next year Captain Shreve will be STRONG. They are only losing 3 starting seniors, and their midfield will still be great, not to mention Jeremy Wimer and the forwards. Look for them to jump a couple notches in the coaches poll. They will most definately make it past the first round next year, and will give some powerhouse teams a run for their money.

Looking at all the teams in D1, Most of the top teams keep alot of players......Lafayette loses 4 starters, Acadiana loses a few, Shreve loses very few, Cathloic BR loses a few.....it makes we think that next year will be exactly like this year as far as all around talented teams in D1. I haven't heard anything about the Northshore district yet, except that Slidell loses alot. This can mean nothing but good things for the next year.

Shreve will be stong next year. lasoccerplay12 mentions strong forwards. They need to find forwards that can finish and that can create on their own. Jeremy Wimer is a great keeper, but no one mentions the defense that kept him from having to make many tough saves. A defense that allowed 2 goals in district deserves a few props. If the forwards could finish, consistently, the final score in the 2nd Magnet could could have been 4 or 5 to 1.

When I mention strong forwards, that was to say that Shreve's offence is definately not middle-class, but not amazing. It'll be nice for John Michiels to return for three more years. But the heart of Shreve is it;s midfield.

1. Mandeville - they should run through the district. They have a lot of talented players coming back.
2. St. Paul - They lose a ton of talent but a good JV will fill the holes.
3. Covington- They lose some good ones too, starting eleven will be good....weak bench hurts in the long run.
4. Ponchatoula- They will be the surprise team next year. The blond headed freshmen is legit.
5. Northshore- Will be weak early, but the coach usually gets them where they need to be at the end. If they start fast, could be the #2 team.
6. Fontainebleau- losing some solid seniors. They have the coaching to make them competitive...just not enough talent.
7. Slidell- Losing their seniors is a huge loss. If they make a run at the playoffs, their coach will deserve a huge shout out from some parents.
8. Hammond- Not as weak as they usually are. They will be competitive in some matches and may just win one or two. Still a year away though.
In short, the top three stay the same and the rest is a crapshoot. The big question mark is Northshore. A year away is a long way off. Some superstar could move in or someone could fail off.....who knows. The list I gave is what I think is coming up. Enjoy!

i think barbe will finish in the top 3 in district 3 they are bringing back the whole defense including keeper cody gardner. the midfield will be good next year. we will be weak on the wings and forwards unless we can get some guys to replace them. barbe will be very good next year.
