hey barb34 i am glad to see your keeper is coming back because even if your entire defense is coming back ya'll will get shot on a lot. i saw your jv and i really don't think ya'll will be one of the top 4 teams in the district. sorry, that just how i see it. i really hope you prove me wrong, because barb is used to being very competitive. it would be nice to have them back as one of the top teams

hehateme, is the Ponchutula freshman the guy with the orange shoes. Mandeville will be very good next year I hear they are only losing two players, McDonald and someone else but almost everyone important is staying, except McDonald of course. Of course St. Pauls will be strong they're a big catholic school. Wouldn't write foutainbleau off though, quite a few sophmores. Northshore is losing quite a few people, but Penton will always come up with something, plus they have quite a few good younger players. What will Covington do without the Judice's. And if they are like you say they are It's about time Hammond wins some games on their own.

MHS should have 11 seniors next year, plus our coach for the second consecutive year. After playing this year with only one healthy senior, Brent Proctor (I give us a B +), next year we will have our A game. I believe both Slidell and Northshore are losing 8 seniors, St Paul's losing 15, and Covington and FHS will lose 6-7 each. We have a chance to rise to the top again.
Oh yeah, we also want 1SuckeyPlayer and goat back!

ASH is losing 12 Seniors. 10 of them being starters. The only person coming back is the Keeper. It will be interesting to see how everything works out.

i think lafayette is starting a dynaty here maybe even starting it last year when they made it to the finals. There jv and freshman teams look very good skills wise. For Lafayette next year the combination of returning varstity players and jv kids moving up will be tuff to beat.

Is Mandy's keeper returning? If so, I don't think anyone in the Northshore district will be able to score on them.

Shreve will be the class of the north again next year. No one will even come close to them up here next year. Their midfield will be a year older, and hopefully a year bigger. If they develop some size in the midfield, and can find someone to score consistently, they could be very dangerous, even down south. Their defense will of course be solid, that is a given. The surprise team in D2 next year may be Loyola. They have a lot of younger players playing this year. If they can find a way to play solid defense next year with Cockrell, they should be very good and could make a run at the state championship.

Here is my take on District 1 for next year.
5 - 8 Huntington, Southwood, Evangel, and Natchitoches Central will be at the bottom of the district and more than likely will only beat each other.
4 - Airline – lost most of their scorers. Should be OK defensively, but will need someone up top with Davis to score goals.
3 - Byrd – Lost Kellogg who was the heart and soul of that team. Also, their coach resigned and his replacement will have a large part in how they do next year. They will not have any impact players next year. They have a good program with lots of players, but I don’t know of anyone who will pick them up and carry them like Kellogg did this year.
2 - Caddo Magnet - Lost a great group of seniors this year. They didn’t have as deep a bench this year as Magnet normally does and they will be hard pressed to duplicate the success they had this year. Their JV team this year was not as strong as it usually has been in the past. Will still be a very good team next year. Wheless and E. Johnson should be a good tandem up top with T. Johnson and Gehrig in the midfield. Dale more than likely moves to sweeper and they will have Beason in the goal. The big question is who can step up and give them 11 solid starters and a few quality subs. Hopefully their coach will stay at least one more year so there can be some continuity in the program.
1 - Captain Shreve – Lost 3 starters, (2 marking backs and a defensive center mid). Have 8 starters and top 4 subs (3 sophomores and a freshman) coming back. Next year I look for Shreve to have 5 seniors, 5 juniors, and 1 sophomore start. J. Wimer should be back in goal with Beck at sweeper and Rossett and Michiels at Marking backs. Lorant, Fell and Norgard should be in the middle with Duncan and Maberry at outside mids. Barefield will up top with either Michiels or T. Wimer. Shreve will be strong thru the top 11 and go several players deep on the bench with quality players. The Shreve JV team had the best record in town this year. Part of the reason for that was that several of the sophomores and freshman who played on varsity swung between the teams when needed. Shreve should win the district and be able to compete with anyone in the state. Will we be as good as Lafayette- No, will we be able to compete with them-Yes. Hopefully, we will come down and play the teams from the south as much as is possible next year and the year after. I would rather go into the playoffs with 8 losses by playing good teams, rather than 2 losses by beating easy teams.
All in all, should be same 4 teams in the playoffs in the same order as this year. Shreve may be the only team of the 4 that will be stronger next year.

yea with magnet losing so many players and the older club teams there struggling Shreve will run away with the district title. the race for second will be nice. Maybe if shreve can find a goalie and let Wimer move into the field?

The uncertainty of the SFC U18 team for next year will impact both Magnet and Shreve, especially Shreve. If they dont have a team in that age group, the 5 Shreve players on that team will have to train on their own to stay in shape. The 6 Shreve players on this years SFC U16 team are fine as that team is solid with good numbers.
Finding another goalie should be the Shreve coach's #1 priority for next year. Maybe Beason will transfer from Magnet next year. lol

shrevedad and i posted at the same time. In regards to District i think natchitoches central is only losing three players but one is there goalie who really is good but was buried in NC's net. Anyone is distrcit found that out. If they can't replace him theres no chance but if so the field players will be the same

St. Louis will have a team next year. They will be losing 11 seniors, 7 of them starters. But hold off on the funeral for right now. It's way to early to count them out.
St. Louis had a tremendous freshman class this year with some outstanding talent that due to LHSAA rules could only play on the freshman team (did not come from a feeder school). They had 4 legit players which would have been JV starters and could have logged some varsity time. And guess what, the first goal in the championship game was scored by a freshman. What an omen.
The sophmores do have some quality players (2 started on Varsity) but with 11 seniors these players had to be very good to even get time on varsity, which a few did log some varsity minutes during the year.
So, even though they will have a young team next year, I do think that they will make the playoffs and move on through. My crystal ball hasn't shown me how far they are going yet. But I guess we'll see NEXT YEAR!

Shrevedad, hate to burst your bubble, but Magnet and Shreve's jv should be tied for the overall record (Magnet played in the varsity bracket in one tournament, and lost two games, while Shreve's JV did not play any varsity). So, if we're going by the JV teams, Magnet and Shreve should be, mostly, evenly matched for a few more years.
Next year, look for Magnet's JV to try and fill in the pieces left by all the seniors. Hopefully some can. We'll see. I also doubt any new freshmen (next year's freshmen) will play varsity.
Magnet will have T. Johnson in the midfield, a set defence (Dale, Mastrodaminico, Byan) and Beason for 2 more years. Whelless and Johnson up top should be a nice combination, with Geghrig also a nice asset. The story between Magnet and Shreve should be the same: midfield vs. strikers and defence. I will say that this next year will be a rebuilding year for Magnet though.

I stand corrected on the JV record. I went strictly by the record on George Gehrigs website sportsmedicine.lsuhsc.edu/Sports/Soccer/Schools/JVSS.html didn't know your JV team played in a varsity tournament. I agree Magnets challenge for next year is finding 3 good midfielders. I don't know of any real good 8th graders who can come in and play for Magnet or Shreve Varsity next year. This causes me great concern over what is going to happen to our programs 2 or 3 years down the road.

I agree. The only age group I see playing brilliantly is the u13 boys. It's somewhat too early to say anything though.

In my opinion, Lafayette will do just as good next year as they did this year. They're only losing 3 senior starters. Their JV players are fantasic, they won every game except for one that they tied. They will go all the way once again.
