We had great participation in the Bracket Competition so I thought you all might be interested in a Semi-finals competition. It's same format I used for Boys last year (and will this year). With only 6 games, they will all be included in the same competition. Here are the rules: • You guess BOTH the half-time AND final scores for each of the 6 Semifinal games. • In case of shootout wins/losses, do NOT add one goal to the winning team • For tie-breaking purposes, also predict the total goals (excluding shootouts) scored by all 12 teams. You earn: • 1 point for picking the correct goals scored for any team by half-time (12 teams x 1 point = 12 points possible) • 2 additional points for guessing the exact half-time score in any game (2 points x 6 games = 12 points possible) • 2 point for picking the correct goals scored for any team by game end (12 teams x 2 point = 24 points possible) • 5 additional points for guessing the exact end of game score in any game (5 points x 6 games = 30 points possible) So if you get the half-time score exactly right and the final score exactly right, you would earn a total of 13 points for that 1 game. A perfect score would be 78 points. The tiebreaker is to pick TOTAL goals scored for ALL 12 teams in ALL 6 games. Deadline: Thursday 2/19 @ 3pm (unless start of first semi is earlier)
Good luck to everyone. Let's earn some bragging rights.

What am I missing? If I pick the final scores, haven't I already picked the TOTAL goals scored?

What am I missing? If I pick the final scores, haven't I already picked the TOTAL goals scored? Basically, but didn't want to assume that. You may think every game will score about 3 goals & pick 18 in the details. But you figure one of the games could go 0-0 and on to shots. Gives you the option to say 15 if you like.

So you can play the over / under against yourself to hedge your bet . . . I like it!

Deadline to participate is 3pm on Thursday (unless another semi gets scheduled earlier).
Only 3 contestants so far - easy pickings to have bragging rights headed into finals. Also a boys contest going on - they already have 9 signed up this a.m.

St. Fred's not in semi's, should be STA OOOOPPPPPSSS!! Sorry about that. I knew that. Thanks for catching the typo. For anyone previously entered, I'm assuming you knew it was St. Thomas Aquinas not St. Fred's & have simply changed it. If you want to change your entry, simply re-submit a new entry before 3pm Thursday & I'll delete your original entry. Thanks again!

Thanks to our 9 contestants for participating. Here's the average picks they've made: Winning Team | Goals | Losing Team | Goals | Score Diff | #3 Ben Franklin | 3.6 | #2 St. Thomas More | 0.9 | 2.7 | #1 Loyola | 2.7 | #5 Lakeshore | 0.8 | 1.9 | #2 St. Scholastica | 2.3 | #3 Dominican | 0.8 | 1.5 | #8 Pope John Paul II | 2.3 | #12 St. Thomas Aquinas | 0.9 | 1.4 | #1 Mt Carmel | 2.2 | #4 Mandeville | 1.2 | 1.0 | #2 University | 1.7 | #3 Sacred Heart | 0.9 | 0.8 |
Note that this is based on goals scored & I then declare a winner. Not every contestant picked the same winners - just using average goals to simulate.
