Twins from Brother Martin in NOLA, Blake Robbins and Brandon Robbins. I don't think you can find better freshmen in the state. Have a very bright future together.

I wouldn't go so far as declaring ODP kids as All-State Freshmen. How many of them were starters and contributed to the success of their team, not just making the team. And we all know that not all quality players go out for ODP. Just saying....

That is not at all what I was doing. but I was saying that it is a good start as to find out how good a player is because its essentially the only place you will find MOST of the better players from an age group in louisiana

Brandon Core at Covington started as center mid for every match we played this season. It was easy to see his quality when he stepped down a level to play in the St. Paul freshmen tournament. I don't know how he compares to the elite freshmen players statewide, but in my book, he is top shelf in terms of quality. In short, he is the best freshmen I have had the pleasure to coach and that list is extensive and covers over 18 years at the high school level.

the st paul's freshmen team is a VERY impressive group--one of the best (as a group) in some time. will likely be several quality varsity contributors from this group alone.

Couple of suggestions:
Jacob Lofaso, Fontainebleau -- started every game at outside mid and quickly adjusted to the high school level in arguably one of the toughest districts in the state. Really good ball skills and soccer IQ, and was a large factor in the Bulldogs' run to the Division I state quarterfinals. Also just a U14 in club ball if I remember right.
Baylor Stanworth, Lakeshore -- started every game at outside back for the Titans on a defensive unit that didn't allow a goal in district play. Big and smart as a defender, knows when to make runs forward and when to stay back.

ESA's Mathew Pisani, Story Frantzen, and Hunter Ardizone. All three started just about every game this year for the falcons.

saw the ESA group play Northlake, and was very impressed with the young players. saw at least 3 u14/15 club players i recognized from CSC, and they were just outstanding. the team shape, tactical awareness, and work rate of the young group was really fun to watch. the team was just young. i wouldn't want to be facing them in the playofs in couple years as they gel playing together, and mature physically.

Cameron Hamby (former ODP player - elected not to try out this year) started 90% of our games on our back line and did an outstanding job. He is an extremely cerebral player that we are fortunate to have. He earned All-District honors.

Thanks blaugranas. We have a great coach and will be loaded with club players for the next few years. Like you said, we just need to feed em!

St Amant’s Hector Rodriquez played center back for the Gators started every game and played there out of necessity normally plays Midfield/Forward in club. Did an outstanding job adapting to playing defender and also communicating to the entire back line, surely learned on the fly this season. Gained All District Honors in doing so.
Also Goal Keeper Brenden David, as a Freshman started every game, finished the season with 96 saves and 4 shut outs .Great job by Brenden as the backline for the Gators started two So on the outside with Fr Rodriquez and one JR on the inside. Not only did Brenden start all varsity games he also played in every JV game due to not having another keeper.

As I stated in the recap of the Jesuit vs Acadiana thread, Braden Brignac should be on that list. Rarely does a freshman even make the Varsity much less start. He scored 2 goals including the game winner in the State Semi-final.

I agree. They were good and are going to be great in a few years especially if JB stays on. I thought they were the most technically sound team we played. In the Catholic League in New Orleans, three freshman players started for their top ranked teams, they were Braden Brignac,(Jesuit) and the Robbins twins, Blake and Brandon,(Brother Martin) all of whom play on the same club team. Brignac began to start at mid-season and had his coming out party at Acadiana with two goals, including the game winner. Brignac follows former Jesuit freshman starters such as Patrick Mullins, Steven Cabos and current junior Chase Rushing. The twins have started all year long and were important as Bro. Martin lost one of their best players, Christian Canales, to a transfer.

These honors (like many honors) factor in a whole bunch of variables including being a strong player on a strong team that does something impressive at the right time and is seen by the right people. To help keep it all in perspective, here's the Freshman list for this year's Seniors. Many names are ones we're still hearing this year while others seemed to have disappeared. Just thought it might be worth a reflection moment or two. For immediate press release: LHSSCA 2011-12 All-Freshman Team First TeamSalvador Collin (Acadiana) Jonathan Turrubiartes (Alexandria) Gaven Stelly (Beau Chene) Cristian Cannales (Brother Martin) Chad Usry (Captain Shreve) Josh Campbell (Catholic BR) Sharif Sharif (East Jefferson) Joshua Dakin (Episcopal Acadiana) Kyle Farmer (Lafayette) Ashton Fletcher (St. Michael's) Alex Silva (St. Michael's) Mitchell Williams (St. Michael's) Eric Guin (St. Paul's) Mason Arnette (Vandebilt) Adam Farrar (Vandebilt) GK- David Terrel (Newman) Second TeamFrancisco Rodriguez (Baton Rouge) Grant Odenwald (Baton Rouge) Allen Frost (E.D. White) James Viguerie (E.D. White) Jose Zuniga (Morgan City) Julian Sutton (Newman) Indiana Brunner (Northlake Christian) Trace Knoerr (Northlake Christian) Matt Pearl (Northlake Christian) Niven Brown (Opelousas) Demetrius McAtee (Parkway) Zachary Breaux (Vandebilt) Landon Vidrine (Westminster) GK- Coy Amoto (Lutcher)
