Celebrate the New Year and get in a great post-holiday tuneup before district play heats up by joining us for the 3rd Anual CENLA CUP hosted by Bolton High School.
When: Jan 1-2, 2016
Where: Event Fields - Johnny Downs Sports Complex (Alexandria, LA) Backup Fields - Bolton HS, Tioga HS, Louisiana College
Who: Varsity and JV Boys and Girls Teams
Format: Depends on number of teams entering. 16 teams max per division
Cost: $250
Champions/Finalists of 1st two Cenla Cups: Champions - Bolton, St. Louis Catholic Finalists - Menard, St. Michael
Though we were hampered by unexpected field closure this past season (and we had to settle for an impromptu round robin), we learned our lesson and have backup fields secured well in advance of next season's Cenla Cup.
Looks like we have competition this year with St. Michael moving one of its 3 tournaments to the same weekend. Hopefully we can draw some of the North LA teams and make the Cenla Cup an ideal place for teams to meet up and otherwise play teams they don't normally see.
Thank you to those that have supported this tournament the first two years. Looking forward to seeing you next season.
Thanks, Jeremy Bolton High School -- Jeremy Poklemba j.j.poklemba@gmail.com

With St Louis Catholic and Vandebilt Catholic joining Menard and Bolton with early commitments, next year's Cup has the beginnings of a quality showcase.
I'll be sending around flyer and registration by early next week. Only taking 16 teams. Don't miss out!

Summary of teams seen so far: St.Louis-tons of depth, always have fresh legs in with no real dip in talent. Solid midfield with #7 up top dangerous on the ball with good footwork.
Vandebilt-very well organized. Very confident on the ball and can build it up from the back. Up top, they press the back line of opposing defenses very well, but it sometimes gets the better of them as they had two goals called back due to offsides in te Menard game. #11 Zach in the midfield is very dangerous as he has a good combination of speed and vision.
Natchitoches- decent midfield and speedy in the back. They weren't able to show much of their offense against St. Louis in the game I watched, but they held their ground very well. #10 stood out to me, but without much support, he wasn't able to do too much.
Menard-very solid midfield and defense. They play strong and aren't afraid to body up. Good movement, but seemed to be missing that attacking finish(though that might be attributed to it being New Year's Day and staying out all night)

pOkLE Thanks for putting on another great tournament! It was a great weekend of soccer. Kuddos to your players and parents! Also thought the referees did a really good job in the matches I watched. Not sure they get too many shout outs.
