..For those of you who have read our North La moderator "talk the talk" and wondered to yourselves if he could "walk the walk", I saw him work a line in a premier game today. He did a great job in a game played on a field that was so saturated it was as slippery as ice.
Had to hoist that flag a few times eh? Wish someone could sell your Gators on that flat 4 again! Last time they tried it J. Wimer was playing forward. He is faster than 90% of the forwards in this state and has better ball handling skills than most as well. If they are going to play him in goal, let him use his speed and athleticism to the team's advantage. Imagine him playing keeper/sweeper in a defensive set like that.
If only....

Just wondering, but was it the Lafayette Fusion vs. the CABOSA white team?? What did you think of the rest of the ref crew?

The game I saw was USC Levski vs Baton Rouge. I did not see the game you referenced.
When you play the flat 4 you live and die with Refs who know the offsides rule, and ShreveDad does.
Overall, I think we are having a problem getting new referees in Shreveport. I've seen good refs here and bad refs here-just like in Lafayette, Baton Rouge, Jackson, Memphis, etc....

Not quite sure what you mean about "walk the walk, and talk the talk", but thanks for the kind words. Assume you meant the USC 13 vs BRSC 13 boys. USC ran a good trap and yes that is very difficult to call. When you have defenders stepping up and attackers going the other way, you are going to miss some. Especially when a long ball is played, you need eyes in the side of your head to see when the ball is kicked and where the attackers are at that point in time. As far as the Fusion match, I did their center earlier in the day and did the line for 75% of the match against the CABOSA team. Had to finish another match and got there late. You won't see me be critical of other referees on this site, because I know all of them are out there doing the best they can do in each match. I can see by some posts here that isn't good enough for some. None of the referees we are talking about here are professional referees and none should be judged by that standard. Everyone who has complaints about referees should sign up and take the class and go out there and see how hard it is to work a high level match. In the Fusion vs USC 12s earlier in the day, my son and another Shreve player were my AR's. They are among the few young referees who stick with it more than a year or so. Most quit because they get tired of parents yelling and thinking it isn't worth the hassle. After that Fusion match, one of the Fusion moms came up to us as we left the field and told us what a good job we did. I know that made all 3 of us feel good, especially the boys. Usually most of the feedback you get is negative. I am old enough to take the comments with a grain of salt and forget them, the kids just say the heck with it and quit. Anyway, sorry for getting off point. Been wanting to talk about referees for awhile and this gave me a good opportunity. Thanks for the kind words. As far as Wimer, I agree with everything you said. I doubt if they will go back to the flatback 4. But who knows?
