I teach at Carver Prep, a high school in the upper 9th ward. We have a longstanding tradition of great football (Marshall Faulk!) and we are looking to complement this with a top-flight soccer program. To that end, we are recruiting a high school soccer coach for the upcoming school year.
This desire stems in part from our work with a new and growing part of our school community: kids from Honduras, El Salvador, and other parts of Latin America. This wouldn't just be any soccer coaching gig - whoever takes this on would be making a radical difference in the lives of teens who have walked a hard road, while joining one of the city's most storied athletic programs.
Ideally, we'll have our team competing in official LHSAA play this academic year. The position would be a part-time one (15-20 hrs / wk in season; 10-15 hrs / wk pre-season) with a modest stipend.
All best,
