Congrats to Andrew on realizing his dream!
However, I am a bit concerned. I think him being drafted by San Jose is just about the worst possible outcome that could have happened for him. All of the MLS experts covering the draft were as shocked as I was that San Jose was the team to draft him. It doesn't make much sense, really. They are in desperate need of defenders, not a GK. They already have David Bingham, a 26 year-old who is currently one of the best young American keepers out there right now, and who is at the annual USMNT winter camp. Another solid GK was just about the last thing the Quakes needed.
I hate to be a pessimist, but Andrew will likely get next to no playing time this season, or anytime soon, as long as Bingham is healthy and in front of him. Better landing spots for Andrew would have been Orlando City or Toronto. Don't be surprised at all if Andrew gets traded soon, or put on loan to a USL or NASL team to get experience.
That being said, there's far worse places in this country to live than San Jose. Nearly perfect weather all year, aside from some rain and stiff winds once in a while.

As a generations Adidas signee, he costs nothing to the quakes against salary cap, so a very smart move....something tells me you'll see a profitable trade in the near future for either him or Bingham...

Yeah. That's really the only way this transaction would make any sense. Having 2 good, young GKs would be nice for the Quakes, but it's an unnecessary luxury they don't really need in a league like MLS where the teams with the best all-around depth are the most likely title contenders. Most likely they'll do what you say and sell one of the two keepers (most likely Andrew) to another team for a nice profit, and look to shore up their weak back line in the supplemental drafts with the money they made from the transfer. Lots of MLS teams do just that with their Generation Adidas signings, since they cost the original owners of the contract next to nothing to buy and they don't count against the salary cap. It's one of things about American sports that must absolutely baffle non-Americans. In most of the world, when a club offers a player a contract, they intend to keep the player or at least give them a shot. But in American sports, it's quite common to draft high-quality players with no intention of actually adding them to the team, and instead trade them immediately for money, future draft picks, or even another player. MLS is no different from the other professional American sports leagues in that regard. Heck, just today the No. 1 overall pick was literally traded from the Chicago Fire to another club (NYCFC) during his celebration speech, and they had to awkwardly introduce him to his new coach and owner and give him the new team scarf. It was pretty funny to watch. I can only imagine what a non-American soccer fan would think watching that. We should always take the initial MLS draft selections with a grain of salt. Many of the players will find themselves on new teams by the end of the preseason, and Andrew will very likely be one of those guys. Things can change in a hurry in this league, but as of right now, Orlando and Toronto would be likely targets for Andrew if San Jose do decide to shop him around. Both of those teams currently lack consistent, established starters in goal, so they might be willing to give a rookie a shot for the right price. I think Andrew has more potential upside than the current starters on both of those teams. We'll see if the GMs of those teams agree soon enough.
