Is there a rule about PA announcers doing play by play while the ball is in play? I know they can give updates while the ball is out of play...like a corner for so and so etc. Today we had constant play by play during the game. Example: they lose the ball again and the counter attack is on through the middle, so and so passes wide and is closed down by the defender...
Is this legal?

For sure haha, I know there are games that have this happen all the time...I just thought I remembered a thread discussing this in the past. I will say it was pretty distracting and while I didn't really take offense to the content, my parents seemed to think it was very one sided reporting (imagine that at an away game).

I'm not sure but I would like to see a rule against them trying to tell jokes. It was at halftime but they were truly painful. Think a riddle book for middle schoolers.

Is this a battle I want to fight? Is it worth fighting? Idk. I think this would be a "fingerspitzengehful" moment where it depends on what is said and how it affects the players. I'm not sure if the handbook says anything but it's one of those things we can kinda make up as we go by using NFHS 5.3.2g depending on the situation
