St. Amant has 2 or possibly 3 that might start for St. Paul. It’s an epic journey for the Gators to the semi Finals and even more epic if they move beyond. It’s an expectation for St. Paul and as soon as this season ends they’ll be picked to do it again next year. The journey is one that’s taken St. Amant 29 years to achieve. Put that into perspective and think about this team that has done more than arguably three of the greatest players to ever come from Louisiana. Jason Garey was a Gator, Briggs Bougeouis, Jackson, Angelo, Hector And many others. This is not St. Amant’s best team ever by individual players. It’s just the first one to say I’ll fight you for the entire game. We’ve got a collective GPA north of 3.5. A valvictorian possibly a second. We’ve got some rare atheletes. We are what we are and I love and know every single one of them. They’re not going to give up and they’ve got a top 3 coach in the state. Win or lose they’re special and they’ll try like hell to win. I will say the same prayer that I always say before the game. “Lord let each player do his personal best in victory or defeat. Allow each team to walk away injury free and may we all glorify your name” Amen! many say only 2 or 3 players from STA would start on STP, but due to personal experiences of colleg soccer etc, the players who do come from these great teams as STP know how to work collectively as a team and very good technically and recognizing where the ball goes but when comes down to athleticism many on that team can not chew gum and walk at the same time. Geesh

How many of St Paul’s players play on same club team? Last year it was like 18/21 or something wasn’t it?

Yeah, uncalled for of #6. Also, a little tacky that their study body chanted “Bull💩, Bull💩,Bull💩 etc” at the refs when a foul went against them! St Paul Admin may want to revisit their mission statement (5th bullet) on teaching ethics, morals, and values. Good game, grateful for no injuries. Congrats to StP

Congrats to StP OMG. an all Catholic boys school student section yelling BS for a call one time. Pretty tame. some of these Catholic Boys swear like sailors or worse. But they go to confession🙏, I guess. Back a few years ago, they had a very raucous student section that sometimes even taunted opponents but they put an end to that.

Very possible that they were yelling “push it” which was the traditional way of getting around being told to stop while still getting the point across. Teenage boys are just so clever. I always find it funny when people complain about student sections being raucous as if teenage boys aren’t the most foolish humans that exist

There may be 7or8 of 20+roster on the CYSA/Slidell Alliance U19, 1 on the CYSA U18 D1 and maybe 6 JV players, MSC probably has some on their U18 and U17 PDL probably has some JV players. A lot of them have played against or with each other since U8. Some have bounced around from MSC,CYSA and MYB through the years.

two comments- a) its only 9 straight championship appearances...in my first year we lost to lafayette 1-0 in the quarters and 3) the whole student body was on my side of the field in the second half, with my AD in front of them, and there was no cursing at all. So it must have been all in the first half and for that we apologize, if the facts bear out the comment.
And since this should be about the players, Congrats to Coach Adrian and the Gators for a great season. They played an especially solid first half and had a couple of good opportunities. They played hard the whole game and didn't just rely on long ball and the foul.

My final thoughts on the season pertaining to St Amant and this game. I’ll start with the victors!
1) St. Paul is a classy bunch and did a fantastic job hosting St. Amant. They took great care of me personally and they were better than the Gators in the second half and deserve the win. They’re the best team for several reasons and I envy the enthusiasm of their students and community around their program. It matters more to them and if you want a great program it first has to matter to more than just a few. Coach Moser is my kind of man and say what you want about him but never question what he’s accomplished. It’s the game played in perfect form for Highschool level soccer. I had a nice chat with him after the game and he was very gracious. I hope he wins his next game because I believe they’re the best team. The weaknesses are not noticeable and trust me every team before ast. Paul was uncomfortable vs St. Amant’s speed and grit. They absorbed it in some ways used it to their advantage. Man for man St. Amant was more athletic than them but the game is about more than just physical gifts. I love their team and their fans and their program. It’s what I hope to have someday in the future as a St. Amant contributor.
2) St. Amant did more with less this year. This is an easier season to swallow than last years because we reached higher than ever before. We had a more complete team a year ago but this team had more unity and grit. With 1:30 left to play they were still giving all they had to a mighty tough mission down 1 goal. They lost this game but they’ll win in life. This group of Seniors is special. They conclude four years with an overall record of 83-12-9. They will be missed most for their character and leadership. We had many stories that are noteworthy. One young man who I think summarizes this has battled through a set back most can’t imagine. Before many games he would take an infusion in order to play. Another battled some even more serious life matters and was the best possible teammate even though he rarely got to play. Our coach is one of the most devout catholic men you could ever hope your kid to play for. He wants to win on the field but that’s not his main objective. His goal is to develop men for the bigger game of life.
Tomorrow is a new season and we will try again next year. To all the finalist I look forward to seeing each of you in the coming week and congrats on your success. To all that came up short It’s not the end but rather a new begging.
All the best, Gallstar!
