NO GOALS given up in regulation in "bracket play" and you don't advance..how often does that happen?? You are darn right about it. Great job, Dutchtown! An OBVIOUSLY BIASED opinion, but I thought the brackets could have been drawn up differently, to maximize the chances of creating the BEST semifinals and FINALS with the better teams playing in each. It's not biased at all. Anyone can see that the drawing wasn't fair. Brackets A and B (E.A. University, Woodlawn, McKinley, etc.) were much easier than C (two powerhouses in Dutchtown and Brother Martin) or D (St. Amant, W. Feliciana, Bishop, and Parkview).

I want to give credit to chris mitchell and the uhigh team. i thought they played a great game against a great team. they were the only team to score on BM the entire tournament. they kept up with BM the the whole game almost pulling out the upset. chris has done a great job with that team. i just wanted to congradulate them on a well played game and tournament, i must admit i didnt' expect it to be that close but they definately made it and entertaining game, congradulations guys and keep it up.

flat3, in terms of your(i am assuming you are with UHIGH) goalie, he's good, I used to be a goalie and you can get away with certain things, a ref will protect a goalie but then keep your mouth shut the kid has excellent skills, it's just........ I think sometimes a player's mouth can be his worst enemy---

Regarding the U High and EA incident prior to the throw- in: The U High player kicked the ball away from the sideline after it went out and prior to the Ref making the call for a U High throw-in. The ball boy was nowhere in sight at first, and the U High guy wasn't making any effort to retrieve the ball that he kicked out. He was just waiting for the ball boy, which probably looked to some as though he was stalling the game a little. The EA player came a long way to get the ball in what looked like an intention to get it back in play as quick as possible since his side was down 0-1 with the clock ticking. Yeah, he looked a bit frustrated as he ran past the U High player and flicked the ball up to his head. It really wouldn't have been a big deal by itself, but I think the Spartan fans and players were still smarting from the Cubs' goal, which they thought came on a no-call (off sides) by the linesman. Life goes on.

Question to the Dutchtown coaches:
Q: Why didn't some of your upperclassmen starters take the PKs at the end of the tie of the Brother Martin game?
A: ?

We "recruited" him out of UHS baseball team. Guess which position he plays. Yes, CATCHER.

Life goes on. Thanks for the clarification. I agree with you that "It really wouldn't have been a big deal by itself." I now remember that someone was yelling offside. Nobody on UHS side thought it was since it appeared a backward pass. It's interesting to put ourselves in our opponents' shoes, however. We would have thought about off-side if that was an EA's goal.... Yes, life goes on.
