I am voting them #2 in my poll this week. Who else has a big tournament win besides them in the Sulphur tournament? Jesuit seems to be seperating themselves from everyone else in the state and is the unquestioned #1. #2 thru #10 are anyone's guess. Lafayette has played in 3 tournaments, won 1 and got beat by Jesuit in the other two. Who has done better? I know they have lost some matches, just shows they may not be as strong as last year, but I have a hard time saying any of the other teams have done better this year. I am basing that ranking on their season as a whole.

i don't put them 2 i put them 3 acadiana 2 ( a lil bias but hey they're good) drop rummel down, they didn't impress me move catholic up and jesuit as of now is untouchable and i don't care about other peoples opion on that subject. but on the subject matter i think lafayette isn't falling off the map but their expectations were so high they were hard to live up to. They are still a top 3 team to me

beat CL beat Cro beat Vandebilt beat Comeaux beat Shreve
Overall record of 18-5. 2 of the five losses were in OT. 1 of the 18 wins was in a shootout. 3 tournaments: 1 - 1st, 1 - 2nd, 1 - lost in the semis to the champion.
I was skeptical about Lafayette until I watched them go to halftime 0-0 with Vandebilt and half their starters got benched for the first half, including Belfour, Hardy, and Menard. The second half Lafayette was up 3-0 until 3 minutes left in the game and Vandy got a goal.
That's my reason why they rank as high as they do.

Where to rank Lafayette is tough. I am not sure I would rank them #2 at this time, but I believe they will probably be #2 by the end of the season. They certaily have the talent to be there, but from what I saw at the Showcase and from what I read from other posters, they need to play better as a team. I would think Brother Martin should move up in te rankings with their win over Rummel, Acadiana should not lose much ground with their loss to Catholic BR (close loss and in a tourney setting), Catholic BR should move up with the win over Acadiana and their previous win over St Paul (Catholic doesn't look as sharp as last year, but their defense will keep them in a lot of games. They may also lose some close games if their offense does not start to click). I only saw bit of Captain Shreve so can not intelligently comment. Jesuit is clearly #1 with #2 - 7 being close.
