I know how college coaches recruit and their expectations.TBH they rarely even recruit from club in LA and part of the reason is that they cant be guaranteed to see the best talent on the field. I used the professional knowledge of college coaches as an example bc there are college commits from this state that didn't make All Star and that is a joke. For some, the All Star game will be their last time playing soccer. But the best players in the state will continue on and play in college.

And no, the best players in the state won’t continue on and play in college - the bulk of them hang the cleats ups and pursue their education. They might play on a college club team for fun

Nah...not bitter. Stating an opinion as everyone else. My kid isnt a senior and Is committed to play in college but I can guarantee wont be selected to the All Star team bc of the school they attend. The best players dont hang up their cleats. They continue to play in college while pursuing their education bc they are among the best.

Guess my boy sucked it up in his appraisal period! 😂 Good news is he got almost a full ride to LSU and several other offers. Still love watching him play. That’s what we’re gonna hang onto. He’s an academic like mama Gallstar.

As someone that has been involved in the All Star process a few times over the years, a lot of it rests with your individual coach. 9 times out of 10 the coach of the player did not nominate them and then everyone goes ballistic blaming the selection committee when the coach dropped the ball. Also, when nominating players, you get a chance to sell your player and their accomplishments through the application. I can tell you that almost half of the form submissions come in with no details about why their players should be selected. Just a name, grade, and position etc. Of course the selection committee cannot see everyone, so they rely on the submissions to paint a picture for them, unfortunately they don't always get much to go on. If you have a problem, start with your coach.

I had a few boys play in showcase tournaments. Their teams regularly won their bracket, including at Disney. They Played RPL, SRPL and whatever other alphabet soup league they qualified for. It is not they were not recruited, but rather watching recruiters leave the games they were playing, in these so called Showcase Tournaments while they were beating teams 2-3-4 to nothing. Asking the recruiters why, they stated, "we don't recruit from Louisiana." Louisiana teams have beaten Academy teams from FC Dallas, NY, N. Carolina, FC Atlanta and Florida, yet we are still considered "country soccer". Until a boys club team wins the Region 3 tournament, we will not get any respect. Just my two cents.

The lack of DA teams in Louisiana is another issue.

I think we could take an even bigger step. Get Tulane to start a D-1 Program and garner funding from The Gallstars of the world. Write into the bylaws that the team will consist of 75% or greater Louisiana kids. The reason I say Tulane is because I think Soccer could work there and actually generate revenue. Especially when you have annual donations to the soccer attached to a ticket. I've said it before and I'll say it again I will put my money where my mouth is for a quality D-1 investment in the state of Louisiana. I know there is plenty of talent in this state to field a D-1 team by year #4.

Ditto from the girls side who have won regionals and beaten all the same quality clubs mentioned above, very little respect for Louisiana players

My kid was one of the leaders on the MCA team that is the best in the state and she didn't make it. You can all reference the PR if you'd like, but we know MCA is the best and my kid was the best player on that team. This whole process is ridiculous. Glad to move on to greener D1 pastures next year.

This thread should be about those that did make it. If you would like I can start a new thread called why my child got snubbed. Let’s not rain upon the good fortune of some to make our cases. Just my thoughts and I’m super happy for several of the kids that played with my child growing up.

Going to the game to watch their child play is reward enough.
