I know in Division I most people seem to be going for Jesuit to win and in Division II most people seem to be pulling for Vandy, But what about Divsion 3? Does anyone seem to better than everyone else? In the other divisions the number one spot relay doesnt change but in Division III spots seems to chance constantly. There are many upsets too. I know that Division I and 2 are very competitive and many teams have the chance to be number 1, but it seems that in Division III, everyone team has a chance to win. I just want to here ya'll thoughts on this.

It depends on how you define "competitive." If you mean "anyone can win it all," yes, it is. If you mean "there are so many good teams," I dare say no. I may make some enemies by saying this, but I think DIII this year is "competitive," mostly because we don't have a dominant team like STL, STM, or Newman in the past. I don't see the LEVEL of competition particularly higher than the last several years. I would like to know what other people think of this.

I believe that Div III is wide open. There are many teams that could win this Div because there is no dominant team as in the past. I know this is a cliche', but it is still true -- I believe the team that will win this Div will be the team that plays the best team ball with the fewest mistakes.
District 3 Div III, I believe is the toughest with 4 - 5 teams that can hold there own with anyone in the state. Don't misunderstand me, I am not saying they will win it all, but night in and night out, you better be on your game.
I like St. Martins - at this time. (I reserve the right to change my mind. Teurlings or Opelousas Catholic are rght there.

In my opinion....
It's a shame that the lower level of the top 10 (ESA, SFHS, UHS) don't typically have games scheduled against st.martin's and opelousas catholic, newman, and higher teams during the early season... It would be so much easier to truly measure the favorites and such. For all anyone knows, someone might pop up out of the bottom and surprise everyone. Don't yall agree?

It's always been like this, and no team has ever just popped up out of nowhere. Mediocre teams that don't play any competition don't get better, and aren't prepared when the playoffs come around.

Can work both ways... The chance of a team popping out of no where without anybody hearing of them is slim to none because if don't play better teams you don't get any better...
There again a team might come in taking the team lightly since they aren't ranked in top 10 and get their butts kicked...
The teams always hould put it alway early, never come in overconfindent, so the posibillity of a team doing that would be very slim... Kinda like snow on christmas in south louisiana

It's a shame that the lower level of the top 10 (ESA, SFHS, UHS) don't typically have games scheduled against st.martin's and opelousas catholic, newman, and higher teams during the early season... It would be so much easier to truly measure the favorites and such. Let me explain about UHS, which I am affiliated. Since I am not the coach, it is just my opinion. The fact that UHS is located in BTR and in DIII-4 is the primary reason why we didn't (and won't except playoff) play any highly ranked DIII team. Counting pre-season games, we played all powerhouses in BTR except Catholic (Dutchtown, St. Amant, BTR, Woodlawn, McKinley, Sullivan, and East Ascension). We lost only one, to Dutchtown. Looking for tough games, we played in two of the biggest tournaments (Northside and Showcase). Though we played 8 games in these two tournaments, the only DIII team we played was Teurlings Catholic (won by 5-3). Neither Newman or St.T.A. played in either of them. As far as I know, the situation was the same last year, with Newman not playing in the biggest tournament (i.e. Showcase). For the third tournament, we will play BTR City tournament, though I wish we would play in St. Paul's tournament instead. Overall, we have played as many as 18 games, possibly more than any other DIII teams in the state. To make the matter even worse, since there are 7 teams in DIII-4, we have to play 12 (!) district games against unranked teams. With that many district games, we just can't schedule any friendlies in the second half of the season except one locally (McKinley). I hope you get my point by now. If UHS didn't (and won't) play any higher ranked DIII teams, it's not because we didn't try. I don't know about ESA or St.Fred, though.

Just to point out something....OC, Teurlings, St. Louis, ESA are all in the same district. So its not like we (ESA) don't play the favorites of the division, we have to play them twice. District 3 has so many teams, there is barely any room to fill in with friendlies b/c there are so many district matches. Add in the fact that tournaments take up possible playing dates and ur left with very little open games. So ESA is 4-2 in district, tied for 3rd with St. Louis. With our losses coming to OC and Teurlings (noting OC embaressed us in our first real game of the season and Teurlings beat us convincingly 2-0). So its not like we avoid the big powers in Division III, there kinda in r district.
