This game was a three to zero skunking in favor of Holy Cross the first time around. After this game, Ben Franklin regrouped impressively. The tie vs. Brother Martin was top shelf, as was the 4-0 blanking of Terrebonne. The Ben Franklin side has only allowed one goal in the playoffs to six scored. Gallstar loves the defensive prowess of Ben Franklin and believes they can pull closer than 3 to Holy Cross. They'll need to have an answer for number 18 over the top and down the right flank. He took over parts of the McKinely game. The goal-scoring for Ben Franklin will most likely come from well scripted set pieces. Finding these types of goals and not getting beat over the top feels like the proper formula.
Holy Cross is battle-tested now. They rolled up to McKinely on the most beautiful bus I've ever seen with a State Police escort. They endured the Cheerleaders of McKinely as well as the Amazing band. Then after the two McKinely goals, they were blasted with the mating call of a black cougar. Coach stu jumped the first time the cougar screamed over the PA system. To the credit of the Holy Cross team, they kept fighting in the crazy atmosphere. They have earned a lot of respect from Gallstar. This includes the parents that parked two G-wagons and three Range Rovers in the middle of the hood. Tenacious effort, to say the very least. This will all serve the Holy Cross children well as they go out into world and as they host BF.
Gallstar calls for a 3-1 Holy Cross Win!

On behalf of the extremely wealthy HC parents, I would like to invite Gallstone to come enjoy another exciting soccer game at our fine establishment on Paris Avenue. Come sip some of the finest wine and enjoy some caviar and truffles with the HC parents! We may even give you a ride in the Range Rover!
Go Tigers!

She’s been licking her lips over that fried fish and shrimp down in Houma. I definitely do not need her sniffing the inside of one of these high end luxuries.

I'd love to go with the upset here. Franklin's boys side has a long history of sneaking up on teams in the playoffs and getting further than expected. But I've not seen anything from HC to make me believe they will wilt before the finals.
HC 2-0

I swear they'll literally lose games early on trying to work on X concept -- win or lose, we will do X today until we get it right. And then, as you said, at some point it all clicks and Franklin quietly surges to the top. It doesn't help Franklin that Holy Cross has already been shocked this playoff season -- harder to sneak up on someone on the lookout. Hopefully someone will make it there for live updates!

I usually sit in on the weekly staff briefing my Butler runs every Saturday morning to keep the compound running smoothly but I'm going to leave it in his capable, fussy hands this week and get over to campus early to oversee the caterers' set up and execution of the finely curated Champagne brunch on which most of our personal chefs have collaborated. (Oh the horror, they've been fighting like cats and dogs.)
If you commit here, I'll dispatch my recently acquired Sikorsky S-76C++ (I had to get rid of the old Bell 525, she developed such an annoying rattle) for your swift conveyance to our soccer semifinal soiree. She's adequately plush and fast enough for a quick hop from your Northern environs. I'm assuming you don't have your own helipad so kindly provide your location and my pilot will identify the nearest patch of ground for your convenient pick up and delivery. Rest assured, we'll have the Tiger helipad prepared for you and Madame Galstone to be welcomed and accommodated as we do for all visiting dignitaries.
As for the game, Go Tigers!

I choose to believe what no one else will: Ben Franklin knows physics. With physics, momentum. Ben Franklin and their young, explosive team are rolling at a momentum that cannot be stopped. Beautiful set pieces and superior finishing will push Franklin into the finals. Franklin 2-1, believe it.

2 OG by Franklin in the last match. No doubt this will be a barn burner.
BF 2 - HC 0

2 OG by Franklin in the last match. No doubt this will be a barn burner. BF 2 - HC 0 So technically BF has scored more goals than Holy Cross. Almost like a +1 to -2 type of score. Very interesting. Were the BF on goal shots hit with good pace? What was the goalie reaction like? This is very important.

One was a rip on goal that was deflected away from the keeper by a defender trying to make a play, that's just unlucky defending. The other was a well struck cross (or maybe set piece?) that was unfortunately mistouched by a defender under duress resulting in a goal. The latter could be argued either way but I don't recall feeling like it was a garden variety OG at the time. I know and like that BF defender a lot so maybe my memory is being generous, that happens after 50. I'll be surprised if tomorrow's game is decided but more than a single goal. Should be quite the soiree. Go Tigers!

Should be quite the soiree. Go Tigers! I'll try posting video later this afternoon. I think you're right about the first goal being on target so not OG but deflected. That was the 1st and only goal in the 1st half that was pretty even overall. Goalie had it covered easily but had no chance after defender stuck a leg out for the deflection. The 2nd OG was pretty garden variety in my opinion. It sealed the game just a minute or two after a gorgeous goal by 18. 18 worked the ball past a couple of defenders on the right side attacking. It was deja vu since he had literally just done exactly the same thing to score! This time BF goalie cut his angle to force either a low chance shot or better chance cross, though defender was in good position near the line. Cross came in low and defender seemed to get twisted up trying to clear it. Put it right in with HC attacker three feet away.

Ugh, sucks for those guys, I've been there as a GK, no worse feeling than that. If any consolation, we kept you guys out of our goal so still a W without those unfortunate occurrences. All water under the bridge now, the teams start at 0-0 tomorrow and both want it. Set the barn ablaze!
