i think that if a district game is being played or even rival teams playing there should be 3 refs on the field..
my reasons... 1. offsides is easier to be called 2. 1 person really in charge 3. less movement and tiring on the refs.
what do you think?

my opinion 3 refs should ALWAYS be used... and if its not possible then ok.. but a DISTRICT game, a rule should be stateing minimium of 3 refs
Reasons why,
1. In playoffs you gotta have it 4 refs, so why not have 3 to be fair to the teams that the games would be close 2. A while back someone said that offsides can't be really told because of a person's eye cordination... But, when you got 2 refs, one can't be watching offsides completely... 3. who's going to be there to be on top of something to keep control of the game and to make sure who gets it first? 4. if a goal is close to becoming a great save, or a great goal, whos going to get down that line fast enough to be on the line to tell??
The simple fact is 6 eyes are better then 4, and when the game means so much into getting into the playoffs, there needs to be as many eyes as you can get....

i definately agree with you there...two refs suck i think...they don't see offsides..they don't see fouls so you could throw cheap little elbows all night and they won't see it...here is a great example on how two refs suck
about a week ago we (parkway) played bolton at bolton...it was a tough game and we were leading with about 1 minute to go....they got a free kick which was a good call...but then the bad came...they kicked it and it hit off the crossbar..while the ball was in the air, a bolton player came and kicked the goalie in his leg so he would fall down and then someone headed it in...now if there were three refs then this would've been called and we would've won the game..the linesman would've been able to see it and he would've called it...it was tough luck...but that's my say on the two ref situation

I can personally tell you that if it is at all possible (here at least) there will be three officials on a varsity game, whether it is district or not. When referee schedules are being made out, things like matchups, quality of play, likelihood of a physical match, things like that, are taken into consideration when assigning officials. If there are 2 games to be worked one night, and 5 available officials, the game that is most likely going to be "easier" will get two officials. I don't think some players, and even coaches for that matter, realize how much time referees put into doing these games for us. I am fortunate enough to referee up here as well, and I know that most of these men and women referee at least 3 nights a week, if not 5 or even 6 sometimes. And when you figure most of these people did rec/premier in the fall, then on to high school in the winter, and back to rec/premier in the spring, you are talking 9 months of officiating. Not to mention the college games a lot of your higher level officials will have to do. You can criticize the system all you want, but the simple fact of the matter is there are always more "officials" in the stands than on the field. Imagine if each team in your district had to supply at least 4 officials at the beginning of each season. We certainly wouldn't have the problem with numbers like we do now. Doing a dual is tough. It is hard watching for offsides, fouls in the middle of the field, ball over the line, close saves, things happening on the other side of the field. And we have to do all that at once. I am just thankful for all those we have now out there working for us so that we can play (or coach) the game we love.
