As a new coming tennis advocate I would like to understand the rules of tennis. The only things I know of tennis is that the “games” and actually called matches, or so I think. And there are words like “deuce” and “love”. Only know those words from wii sports but besides that if one of you fellow coach’s or players care to explain to me the rules of a tennis match?

I know this newfound tennis board is very resourceful and all on getting to know about Louisiana High School tennis, but wouldn’t it be easier for yourself and everyone else just to look it up on the worldwide web. I mean that’s its purpose. I appreciate your curiosity for the game but I really think you should just look it up yourself. Thanks www.rulesofsport.com/sports/tennis.html

A tennis match consists of “games” and “sets”. In order to win the match, you must win 2 out of 3 “sets”. A set consists of “games”. In order to win a set, it is the first team to win 6 games. A game is counted as “15, 30, 40, and then game”. For example, if you are winning the current game 40-15, then you only need one more point to win the game. “Love “ is another word for zero or “nill” or “nata” or “none”. Hope this helps!

Very helpful, hopefully I can get into tennis myself thanks Remember that this is the very upmost basic foundation of the rules of the scoring aspect of the game. For a furthermore technically inclined analysis of the game, refer to the internet or your local Tennis Pro in your area. They are very insightful and are always open to help! I know it may seem overwhelming at first, but after a few short minutes of research and and years of running your tail off, blood, sweat, tears, and screaming Slovakian slander at the top of your lungs for moral support, you’ll be well on your way to tennis stardom in no time!
