Just checked LHSAA website and saw that our season starts on Nov 8 and ends Jan 25. This can’t be right, can it? This is only my third year coaching so I don’t have a lot of history to go on but seems like it’s starting a week early (without practice starting early-Oct 25) and ending a week early.
I’ll be missing football guys for an extra week and have to reschedule my two post-district matches

This would be a big shakeup as most coaches already have games scheduled. Additionally, we already get less pre-season practice than other sports, and this would decrease that by another week (I was hoping we would go the other direction and get another week to be in line with what basketball does). I'm sure some of the head coaching association guys will be able to look into this or give an explanation.

Where is that listed? And what are the dates for the finals?
Mardi Gras 2022 is March 1st, so maybe the finals dates were changed so that they don't fall on the weekend before Mardi Gras and everything else got bumped up a week.

Shame we don’t have more time to work with the kids. I don’t have a lot of soccer players, mostly athletes who want to play another sport. They are still learning the game

according to the dates, practice starts October 25th. The state finals would be Feb 14-17 which would be Monday-Thursday?
That can't be right?

See my announcement on the top of all pages
There is an error on the LHSAA website about moving the entire season up a week and the playoffs as well. This was an option that they were going with but it has been decided that an alternate plan will go in place.
The whole issue is Mardi Gras and date conflicts with Hammond.
So instead of moving up season a week and conflicting with football an extra week... the season will start as normal. Nothing will change in regular season except the season will end on Saturday, Jan 29 instead of Monday Jan 31 for girls and Tuesday Feb 1 for boys. So there will not be an extra game or 2 after the last Saturday of the regular season.
Playoffs will start the next week and go as follows
Rd 1- 1/31-2/2 Rd 2- 2/3-2/5 Quarters- 2/6-2/9 Semis- 2/10-2/12
The finals will take place on 2/14-2/17 In Hammond.
These finals dates are why we had to adjust post season. Speeding it up is something we all have discussed for years anyway as there is too much downtime in playoffs compared to regular season. This option will avoid more conflict football and also speed up the playoffs. Don’t really like Mon-Thur finals but that is out of our hands and really is the whole reason we need to adjust. Also district schedules were already out and now do not need to be adjusted unless they were using the last Monday/Tuesday as a district date.

Isn't there a vote coming up that would allow us to start practicing two weeks sooner?

Please tell me the finals are not in the same place...that field is terrible in terms of keeping the ball on the ground. I thought they rebid every two years?

First year was emergency held there... this year and next is their awarded 2 year bid. turf was supposed to be replaced last year after soccer championships but covid stopped it. It is definitely being replaced for next year.

Isn't there a vote coming up that would allow us to start practicing two weeks sooner? Not sure what that is because I didn’t see any proposals that had this... but the 4 that we put up for soccer are now delayed till next January vote so not implemented till 2022-23 at earliest. Those 4 will be joined by a few more controversial ones from some other soccer principals I’m told...

Monday-Thursday championship games? Fantastic. I thought one of the major reasons for taking the finals out of NOLA was to avoid Mardi Gras. Apparently Hammond has...one parade? Does Hammond really have anything more exciting than the state soccer championships going on?
This is almost as dumb as a 6-team (yes, six) state softball tournament bracket whose semifinalists were Chapelle, Curtis, Dominican, and Mt. Carmel having to play in Sulphur.
