Condensed into one weekend, details below. www.playlouisianasoccer.org/tournaments/state-cup/NOTICE With the help of numerous clubs, parks and school districts LSA has explored every possible solution to play the State Cup this weekend. Even though the weather this weekend promises to be delightful, the grass fields in Louisiana will not be playable and there are not enough turf fields available. Not only do we want to keep our players safe, but we want the State Cup to reflect our best competition in the best environment. The State Cup must be compressed into a single weekend, single elimination event. It will still be played at Moore Park in Lafayette next weekend. Quarter-final games will be played on Saturday, semi-finals on Sunday and finals on Monday (Memorial Day). Please visit our website for more information on the tournament format.

Seems like there’s enough turf spread out. Like send 08B/G to catholic/Parkview in BR. 07B/G to Denham 06B/G to Houma Etc.
Did they think it all had to be at same spot?

I think the paying sponsors, hotels, food and other vendors prefer one location. I don’t know the financial arrangements, but does LSA rent the fields? Even if they don’t pay, there is a contract specifying responsibilities and insurance requirements. All the fields would need medical and refs. With the shortage of refs in La right now, coordinating the refs to multiple sites would be a problem too. If you had a few weeks to plan it could be done, but very hard in one week especially if you see a path to an easier solution..

So between this and not playing second weekend of bob Abbott cup, seems like the LSA should have some extra cash from lots of teams.

With some coaches having multiple teams in State Cup it would be hard to have it spread out amongst multiple cities. You shouldn't have a coach have a game in Houma at 1:00pm in one age group and another 100 miles away in Zachary at 3:00pm in a different age group, for example. And as a parent would you want your team's coach to have to choose between your child's team and another team for the state championship tournament?

I love how people think with a few days notice you can change the schedules, reorganize referees, add various locations throughout the southeast, notify the teams and clubs to reorganize their staff in the event of any conflicts , add uninsured fields to insurance policy, get the all these individual schools on board to allow LSA to host at games these schools. Spoken by someone who has never organized an event of this magnitude. When they say they did all they could do to reorganize. Believe them!
