Thanks! Got up here yesterday, immediately had an altitude headache. The girls trained some last night and said they felt fine. I did see a couple of nose bleeds and vomits on the other fields but they were going a lot harder than us.
The weather is fantastic! Dry and a nice cool breeze coming over the fields. Dicks Sporting Goods complex is beautiful and vast.
We did not do too bad at Regionals a couple of weeks ago, lost to a good Solar team in double OT in semifinals but hoping it has hardened us for these finals. We play a good Chicago team today.
Coach Salas is up here with the 04 Rush- gonna try and watch some of his games.

So this for who won gspl and then npl East in Rock Hill, SC? Nothing to do with Southern Regionals in Greenville, SC correct? GSPL- yes NPL East- not for sure Southern Regional Champs- get slotted to play in US Youth Soccer National Championships in Sarasota, Fl July 20-25. www.usyouthsoccer.org/national-championship-series/This 05g Fire team will also be there also.

So this for who won gspl and then npl East in Rock Hill, SC? Nothing to do with Southern Regionals in Greenville, SC correct? The NPL nationals is for teams that win their NPL leagues, a list of those leagues is on the US Club website. There are US Club State championships (growing in number each year, I’ve heard the Red River NPL director is trying to work with some clubs in LA to have one here in the next year or 2) there are also US Club regionals, these 2 events fees to the US Club Nationals that are played next week in Colorado. LA Fire 05g Red, Cajun Rush 04g academy and SU 03g blue qualified for NPL nationals by winning their NPL leagues. The SU 03g blue, opted to play in the US Club nationals next week, as it fit better into our schedule, as we were given the option. US Youth is the State associations and their state cups, which feed to regionals like the one this year in SC. Then to US Youth Nationals (with another route their with the national league.

Game vs North Pennsylvania 5-4 in double OT
They went up 0-2 in prob first 15 mins and at half, it was 0-2. We made adjustments and roared back scoring 2 goals in first 10mins of the 2nd half: 2-2.
Then it was flip flop 2-3. Then 3-3. Then 3-4 Then 4-4 End of 2nd half 4-4.
First OT, we went up 5-4 and held it through 2nd OT.
This 05g Fire team does not quit and has phenomenal confidence in their teammates and Coaches.
Such a great game where the “beautiful game of possession” won in the end.
Championship tomorrow vs Kansas City Fusion.

Game vs Kansas City 1-0
What a incredible Championship Final! I have nothing but great things to say about the other teams we played and this Dicks Sporting Goods Park. What a beautiful place and it was set up really nice. They really did a great job.
As you can see from my previous posts, our competition only got better as we progressed along. This last game was a slugfest of back to back soccer- line to line. They were big, fast and could move the ball pretty well.
In the first ~20mins, KC was aggressive and fast on our end. Fire persevered and moved the ball well countering down the field. With 10mins left in the first half, Fire scores. We go into the half 1-0.
Fire then played an incredible 50mins holding the lead. KC had some good opportunities to even it up but Fire’s defensive barricade along with great keeper saves held the score. At one time, KC hit a rocket that was rejected by the keeper only to be shot again. The ball looped up like a rainbow heading into the goal but a Fire outside back streaked in to make the saving play just as it was crossing the line.
Just an incredible game all the way down to the wire. Fire was exhausted, KC was exhausted…. but in the end, Fire 05 Red, the defending NPL CHAMPIONS, did it again. A true repeat that will be remembered by every single player and parent that was on the field/sidelines!
A truly remarkable group of girls that played 5 games straight and finished as 2021 NPL CHAMPIONS!
