This weekend 5 of the 6 LATDP teams hit the road to take on Austin FC. Austin looks to be very strong in every age group and competing for tops in the Frontier MLS Next division. This weekend will be a good chance to see where our boys stack up against the top competition only 2-3 games into their existence. The four teams we are playing are a combined 9-1 in league competition this season. Below are their rankings and results.
9am 2007s vs #49 Austin FC W 2-0 vs Rise W 4-1 vs Houston Dynamo W 4-1 vs Solar
9am 2005s vs #?? Austin FC W 3-2 vs Rise W 3-0 vs Houston Dynamo W 2-1 vs Solar
11am 2008s vs #16 Austin FC W 3-2 vs Rise W 4-0 vs #11 Solar
11am 2006s vs #9 Austin FC (not listed on website, but listed on gameday flyer) No league results this season, but recent June results D 0-0 vs #8 Philadelphia Union W 2-0 vs #34 NYC FC W 3-0 vs Barca Academy
1pm 2009s vs #41* Austin FC (team probably made up from Austin Roots Futbol) W 4-0 vs Rise L 3-2 vs Solar

Has there been any players drop out of MLS Next since it started and if so, have they been added back to club team?

2008's lost 7-0. I'll reserve judgement until I watch the game film.

"07s lost 2-1"
That's a really good result, I would think.

In the 5 games Saturday, Austin FC outscored LA TDP Elite by a combined 22-1. Here’s the scorer of the 1 being recognized. /?d=n

The 2008 result wasn't totally unexpected. Austin FC could end up winning Frontier group and soon to be top 15 or top 10 ranking. They have 100s of hours training together while TDP teams have less than 20. It will take time to compete with the MLS academy teams and TDP are already competitive with non academy teams. I just hope players and parents buy in and understand it will take time to be successful on this level. 07 game was very fun to watch and the TDP keepers (both played great) proved all the hype.
Let's see if the kids learn and grow over the coming months and see if they can do a little better next time they play Austin.

This is just my opinion but I don’t think the program should be judged by this year alone. Many of these teams have been competing and training at this level for years. It’s only reasonable that it may take some time to catch up.

The 05 and 07’s were the only games I was able to watch. Both age groups impressed and played great! Yes it will take time but everything I’ve seen so far shows we are headed in right direction. The fact that we were able to compete in a few age groups against a club that trains 5 days a week in a $45 million dollar complex regardless for rain or shine shows the future of La soccer is bright. We just all have to give it time.

We just all have to give it time. I heard similar about the 05s. They held their own and held Austin to 1 goal until the very end when they tried to press to score and Austin capitalized on it, scoring their second in stoppage time. With Austin winning every game so far, including that against Dynamo (3-0), I'm not unhappy with the result. I think we are on a road to something great for Louisiana! I'm excited to watch where it goes.
