All teams u13-u19 traveled to McKinney, Texas this weekend to face Solar. These games were originally scheduled for Shreveport like the first rounds of games, but the rainout was rescheduled for 3-4 hours further. There were some good and some bad.
Below are results and national rank in (#). These are some very good teams, most age groups in Louisiana the #1 team will be a 400-600 ranked team. The 2007s continue to be the most impressive being ranked #47 and climbing.
2009s L 0-8 (#5) 2008s W 1-0 (#111) 2007s W 2-1 (#17) 2006s L 1-6 (#51) TDP 06s won a few weeks ago in Shreveport 2005s L 1-2 (#45) 04/03s L 1-5 (#36)

Didn't the 09 group beat the Dynamo academy last week? Wonder what happened against Solar.
Glad the 08s got a win for the program. That team seems to be improving based on the last couple of results.
That 07 team is not surprising. They have some good pieces all over. If they can stay together for a couple of years, they could do some things.

That 07 team is not surprising. They have some good pieces all over. If they can stay together for a couple of years, they could do some things. TDP played out of their minds vs Dynamo and caught them sleeping. Solar injured the main scoring threat early in the game vs TDP and the boys kind of gave up after the 3rd goal. They were short players and had a 7+ hour ride to the game that weekend. All bad excuses, I know. The 08s are improving mainly just getting more used to the game speed and physicality of it. It is unreal what is vs what isn't a foul in this league. Much more physical that LCSL soccer. Add the fact that most every team has 6-8+ players bigger, faster, stronger than our biggest, it makes learning on the fly kind of difficult. 07s are loaded and are fun to watch!

The size thing doesn’t really make sense to me. All the players have to be born in the same year, so are their players just “early bloomers”?

A lot of teams are bigger, stronger, faster rather than technical.

The size thing doesn’t really make sense to me. All the players have to be born in the same year, so are their players just “early bloomers”? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relative_age_effectWithout knowing the specifics of the roster, that's certainly one possible explanation. And if the other clubs are pulling from a larger population, team selection is more competitive and it's more likely that you need every advantage (including being born earlier in the year) in order to make the team.

If that’s the case, then in the next few years shouldn’t our teams catch up/surpass them with technical ability?

If that’s the case, then in the next few years shouldn’t our teams catch up/surpass them with technical ability? Physicality will level out as they get older. I don't know about surpassing them in the coming years because they recycle their teams as the best players in Texas gravitate to the MLS Next teams. Solar 08B added a new starting CB since the Fall season. We will compete and win games here and there, but the Louisiana players that play at this level will be better in the long run for it just being exposed to this level of play. I think the gap from LCSL C1 (where most TDP players were playing) to MLS Next is larger than the gap from REC or bottom division LCSL to LCSL C1. It is not even the same game. Some of these teams move the ball like you are watching TV. The biggest difference early on is these programs we are competing against have been building a team for years. Some of them practice 5 days a week, 1-2 times per day. They can attract top talent because some of these programs don't charge the players outside of personal travel cost. They have a much larger population to pull from that also has a higher percentage of kids choosing soccer (assumption) vs football/baseball/basketball here in Louisiana. We have players in each age group that could make some of these teams and fit in well. Pretty much all the kids we play against would make the TDP team. Louisiana is behind in soccer, but this program CAN close the gap. I'm very hopeful it is going in that direction now that Joan is in charge.
