Anyone have an upset they see coming. And this time any better seeded team get beat we are counting as an upset. What do you have? And maybe give a reason why you think it could/will happen.

I agree with some of these potential upsets, but what am I missing with the Barbe/Dominican game. I haven't seen Barbe play this year and I'm just wondering why a few of you are taking Barbe. Is it their shape?,certain players in particular?, or something else?

Can someone please explain the Mt Carmel/ SJA game? 1-1 tie, Mt Carmel moves on? It was tied at the end of regulation. It was still tied at the end of multiple overtime periods. Mt. Carmel won in PK’s.

I'm taking: Ben Franklin over Caddo Byrd over Shreve Barbe over Dominican Hannan over U High 4/4 Go buy some powerball tickets No, he needs his own sports betting show on ESPN. Looking at D1, I can't remember a year with this much parity. Some of the power ratings are a bit skewed because some teams are trying to game the system and others are just playing really tough schedules. But this year the coaches' poll wasn't too far off from the power ratings. Barbe had 10 losses in the regular season, but they played good opponents from every corner of the state. Their worst loss was probably to #20 St. Amant. Fontainebleau was a #16 seed, but they beat #8 MCA during the regular season. #22 Hahnville beat #13 Central Lafourche during the regular season. In past years there were usually 6-8 top tier teams, and usually 2-3 of those were clear favorites. This year probably the only dominant D1 team was St. Joe's (undefeated regular season with only two ties), but they clearly weren't that far ahead of the pack. And the top tier was probably 15-18 teams. If I had to guess at the reasons for this, I think the talent seems to be a bit more spread out than usual. Are we seeing more top players skip HS to play only club? (I can think of at least one senior of the top of my head who went that route.) I don't think the top teams are quite as deep as they used to be, and that means a good team with one great player can take advantage of a better team with one or two weak links.
