Just wondering now that the high school playoffs are over how would everyone rate the level of soccer in the state. Love to hear some thoughts. Keep it clean.
I personally think our players are much more technically sound than in the past but still not up to par with rest of country or region

From playing to refereeing in Louisiana over the past 20+ years, I can definitively say that the technical skills of the players overall has dramatically gotten better. The understanding of the game and tactical awareness is getting there but is still way behind most other states. Our top teams can compete at Regionals and our best teams can have success on the national level, but from top down we still have a long way to go with getting the players to understand the flow of the game and when to make a pass where.
The ability to trap a ball and a take a receiving touch towards space as well as overall dribbling skills has certainly improved over the years in every age group.

While I think some of the coaching has improved in terms of tactics, overall this was a down year across the board on the girls side from an overall quality of play standpoint. Having spoken to coaches across the state, most agree that the top teams from the last 2-5 years were stronger than this years top groups. The age groups sometimes just flow that way. Not saying there were not good players and teams this year because there were, but that is just the comments I have heard this season from different parts of the state.
