Shrevedad, Question: How do you make second team all district, but first team all city. Congrats to all the Shreve players on your honors.

Both are voted on by coaches, but they are composed of different coaches. All City adds the Parkway and Loyola coaches to the mix. The coaches submitted their nominations to the soccer reporter at the newspaper who then put the team together.
I was told they were going to name an All City 2nd team this year. Too bad they didn't. There are lots of deserving kids who could have been placed on the 2nd team.

(from Shrevedad) Yes, the coaches send their ballots in but the only guy who ever sees them is the Times reporter who can basically do what he wants. He did a good job last year, just have to wait and see this year

Personally, I think Mickey White deserves Coach of the Year honors. He did a great job taking Airline further then they've been in a while. Hats off to him and the Vikings for a good season.

I'm sure that not too many people are happy that a sophomore made it.

Barcelona's a good kid, and a high scorer, but there's other people who deserve it more and who are, frankly, better. But, when one guy choses it and may not know as much about the players as the coaches, then scoring alot of goals looks good I guess. I like all-district much more than all-city, because the coaches pick, not some guy alot of people have never met.

Personally, I think the All City team was done well. When you only pick 11, some good kids are going to get left off the team. Eric Johnson, Scott Mitchell, Ballard Johnson, Gavin Duncan, John Michiels and Jacb Lott come to mind as very good players who could have easily been picked for the team.

Barcelona's good, but I think Eric or Ballard or Gavin should have gotten the honor of All-City over him. They may not have had the stats but they also didn't play forward for a lot of the season and they weren't 1 of 2 (Faulkinberry) quality offensive players. I'd throw one of those three in there instead and then Barcelona would deserve it more next year...now before BML7 jumps on me about this, I'm not saying this based on Sophomore/Senior or "Oh, he'll have his time to shine next year," I just think those players are more deserving of that honor. And what's with the Shreve senior getting All-City but not making All-District (1st team)

aww you're just saying that because Mike suspended you during the season. It doesn't matter to me. Mickey is your coach. You know he did a good job this season. Y'all were a lot better team then we were.

Coach Slack at Loyola would have been my choice for all city coach of the year. Loyola tied for district after losing Wargo and a few players going back to New Orleans at mid season. Also, Will Haynie could/should have been on the team as a mid fielder. Leads by example and did not disappear in the playoffs.
