Sorry but im not releasing his name and yes i do know who it is. Why would i get on here and post that i do if i really dont, just so stir up a good argument? Sorry but i have better things to do with my time, the only reason i posted something in the first place is I wanted to correct the comment about the new coach being decent b/c he is anything but decent, which you all will soon realize. As for the program being at the level of Duke or UNC, give me a break, my statement was intended to mean that LC will be a collegeiate program, if you know what the program was like previously then u know what im talkin about, stop tryin to call me out on sayin LC will compete with anyone else in the country b/c thats not what i said. I'm simply trying to make the point that LC does have a new coach, he's a great coach, and his name has not been released by the school, and as soon as his name is released by the school i will be more than happy to post it on here, and u will see that im not full of bs

How does a Mississippi College thread turn into an argument over who coaches LC? Why not resurrect the LC Coach thread, and bang around on that. Is there any commentary on the MC team?
As to Mark Godwin, he posts on this site under "XroadsDoC", which reflects his position as Director of the Crossroads Soccer Complex/Program here in Alexandria. His dad and he(along with their whole extended family) have worked hard to improve soccer here in Cenla, and have greatly improved competition.

sorry to burst ur bubble, but mark Godwin is not the new head coach at lc, and it is to my understanding that the new coach is not doing this out of necessity, but b/c he desires to be the coach at lc the way any other coach desires to at there respective program, so the statement about them not being there long will prove to be false, LC will be a program like anyother collegeiate program. and yes, mark is a quality coach Um.. you arent bursting my bubble bud--I have no bubble. Lets extrapolate what I said in my previous post, underlining the fact that you need to READ what was written: I did hear L.C. is getting a new coach, i was told he from england Supposedly Mark Godwin will be taking the helm at L.C..... "Supposedly" implies that the fact isnt set in stone, and might be subject to some interpretation. Mark Godwin was identified to me by a reliable source two weeks ago as the person who would be taking the job. I am not certain it will be him, I am merely the messenger. it is what I heard--hence the "supposedly" quote author=coachray40 board=general thread=1142270786 post=1142306717] ......but my understanding is that he will be doing it more out of necessity(LC's need for a coach) than desire(his). By stating it as "being my understanding" I am saying that things were explained to me to be that way, though I am not 100% certain that things are indeed that way. I may be wrong, and I am not the one "in the know" Much has been said about the coach at LC, and I think LC stands to gain from a more visible desire from LA soccer athletes to play at the next level. Despite the outward appearances that LC is moving in the right direction, they still havent "officially" hired a coach, and the opportunity for recruiting is quickly passing them by. The top echelon of players has already committed to other schools (thats not to say any would have gone to LC, but to land at least one blue chip prospect could have led to more becoming interested). So now LC is left with what they have, and what they can get. The biggest thing LC needs now is a coach who can RECRUIT. Its a D3 school, with no tradition, and no past visible support for upgrading the soccer program there. Its going to be hard to get guys to come, so its gonna take a pretty persuasive guy at the helm, with ties to the whole state of LA to build the program. LC could bring in Bruce Arena to coach, but if he cant get top line players to come, they wont get any better. That head coach is going to have to recruit primarily from LA, as TOPS will have to be the method to find funding for players to come. A minimal financial aid package added to TOPS could have a good LA student/soccer player enrolled on a "full ride" of sorts. LC has to decide to put up the money to upgrade the program and hire the RIGHT coach. Otherwise, we will be right back to where we are now, with a poor program in place at LA's most accessible soccer school. If Mark Godwin is that guy, then LC needs to get it done.

derek will be a good choice and I can see LC's program improving drastically for the next years he is there. By the way he's my grandfather just thought I'd toss a little funfact out there. He's highly qualified, I think he has all you can get, he's been around the game his entire life, and he knows quality so he'll know how to bring players in. Things should look good for LC as soon as he gets things working.

If Derek is the new coach of LC then it's a good move on their part. He coached me at ODP Regionals in place of Mark (who because the tournament got postponed, couldn't get out of the UVA camp to come) and I have nothing but respect for the guy. Great coach overall, he knows the game and knows how to help develop a player's weak points and get them to improve on them quickly.

I agree f. He is a great coach and if he is at LC then I will certainly look into going there. I think I will start an LC thread right now.

Jason Beck goes to MC...likes the coach, when it's time to practice they practice...he is a believer in off season conditioning. The players are young, graduating only 1 SR. starter. If you want more info send a private message
