Caddo Magnet got two shutout victories in the Shreveport-Bossier area jamboree. As a matter of fact the four Caddo teams (Boys Varsity, Girls Varsity, Boys JV, and Girls JV) collectively gave up only one goal over their eight games and came away with six shutout victories and two ties. The games were only 20 minutes in length and didn’t feature any varsity-team competitive match-ups in my opinion (why were there so many Div I vs Div II matchups?) so not much can be taken from these results, but it was fun to welcome back high school soccer even with the rain.

I would like to know this. If Magnet is so good why did you not enter the Dutchtown tournament where the competition is top notch instead of playing in the tournament being held here in Bossier? Does Magnet do this because it helps with their ranking playing against a lower level of competition?

Does Magnet do this because it helps with their ranking playing against a lower level of competition? Caddo can't play in every S. Louisiana tournament. Look at their schedule on the Coach Ray thread. Sulphur tournament, St Paul's tournament, non-district vs. Laf. Everything else is a district game. That doesn't appear to me like schedule padding against lower competition. They've done the best they could with their schedule TO schedule competition.

A lot of people like to take a vacation over Thanksgiving or Christmas holidays, so with Magnet already entered in the St. Paul tournament during the Christmas holidays they probably left the Thanksgiving holidays open for family time.

I didn't know that true blooded soccer/futbol types knew about holidays or family time. Caddo Magnet, that is refreshing to see you guys must. It is amazing to me that tournaments are scheduled so close to holidays. What is even more surprising is that the tournaments fill up. We have lost touch in this world with family/away time. I remember the last couple of years our team has practiced on Christmas Eve, and practiced/played in the days after. Just look at the Dutchtown Tournament. FULL! and CONCERNING!

Well, in most countries around the world games are not scheduled around Christmas or New Year, except in England. As far as Caddo Magnet is concerned I am not sure if their schedule is refreshing, family oriented or deliberatly set against lower competition to keep their ranking high. All I know is that they will go to two South Louisiana tournaments( one of them is the best in the state) and they will be in one local tournament. It will be almost imposible for them to go to the Dutchtown or any other tournament that is scheduled around Thanksgiving. Many of the varsity players take their anual school trip to Europe during the Thanksgiving break. This year 4-5 starters are leaving for Spain this coming Thursday and they will miss the first district game vs Byrd on Nov. 19. At the end anyone can write and express their opinion and I respect that, however, before I would write something I would check the facts first.

Everyone knows that for Magnet girls and boys we get roughly 2 - 3 good district games a year. The boys are going south twice for tournaments, the girls are going south once and to Texas once. We could care less what our rankings are, if we wanted to pad our schedules we would schedule more local non-district games against teams up here we would kill. We get more out of training sessions than those games. That is why we have fewer games than a lot of teams. If the majority of quality teams in the state were in Shreveport, would all the teams from down south come up here for three tournaments? No...you can't even come up here without complaining when your kid is playing in the championship game. We are doing what every other team is doing....trying to plan our year to have us ready for the playoffs.

I'm pretty sure I heard that they scheduled the Parkway tournament in order to support local teams and also to try and bring competition to the area. Maybe that's not true but I don't see what's wrong with that if it is.
