Basically, the amount of $ you pay, the quality of the coaches/players, and how many games you have.
Rec is generally the cheapest, with the worst players. You have your 8-10 games hat your association schedules for you, and your season's done. More for staying in shape than for developing skills.
Rec+ costs a little bit more, plays a few tournaments along with regular games. Most of the better rec players will probably put themselves on here.
Select/Club is the best. Play in tournaments, but also travel for regular games. Costs alot more $$. If you really plan to continue playing after high school, this is the team you're on.

Rec plus teams can go to out-of-state tournaments also. They have as many in-state turnaments as select, and can even choose to play in a select tournament, although it is not advised. There are 3 to 4 times as many rec plus teams per age group than select. They have a state championship game, the Pelican Cup, but do not advance to regional play. No tryouts for rec plus.

wmassassin21, are you saying that rec+ teams have tryouts, because my sons team does not. is this a disadvantage. i thought that rec+ teams were true recreational teams were every kid could compete if he/she wants?
