De La Salle will shock some people. I'm predicting DLS gets all the way to the Semis.

Baton Rouge High should be in the top. They will win the Baton Rouge district, and should compete with anyone.

Hey Genius....I noticed you included 6 teams from the northshore in your top 20. That's 30%. Is the northshore that good, is the rest of the state that bad, or are you biased?
It doesn't look too biased since you only included one of those teams in the top 10.

I think this year will be a very interesting year for Division I. I think Jesuit will start out as number 1 but I watched them play Acadiana and Lafayette and they could have lost both those games. Your normal top 4 will be around (Jesuit, Bro. Martin, Acadiana, Lafayette) From what I hear Lafayette and Jesuit should win their districts, but when it comes to highschool soccer, you never know. I think Mandy and St. Paul's are probably worthy of top 6 status. There is always a fairly strong team coming from the BR area. Hahnville is usually strong, and Central Lafourche will improve as the year progresses. What I am wondering is who will be the dark horse. Last year it was Carencro making a statement. St. Amant has done it before and I know Mandy has done it in the past. If you have any suggestions of a team that is a legitimate contender for the Div I champ that everyone seems to overlook, please stake your claim. I don't think anyone will go undefeated this year and with the way the state brackets are set up, it is impossible to have an all district 3/catholic league semis like it has been the last two years. Good luck to all teams.

The northshore district usually has a lot of pretty good teams, and usually one good one. Most of the time there will be only one or two of them in the top ten, but almost all of the remainding ones are in the top 25. The northshore has a plethora of soccer talent, though, it is rare that it produces great players. Put a bunch of good players on a team without a great player and you have a top 20 team. That's what the northshore is.
It's a lot like the SEC in college football.

I'll go to bat for a few northshore teams: Covington beat Grace King 2-0 and Hahnville 2-1. Lost to BF 3-0 after being down 1-0 at half. Missing a few players. Fontainebleau gave Baton Rouge all it could handle before losing 1-0 and also lost close game to CL. Snakebit in front of the goal. Not really impressed by what I saw of Northshore. I'd take them out of the top 20. Has anybody seen Slidell yet? Mandeville doesn't play till next Tuesday vs. Ponchatula.

Top teams should be the same, Jesuit, Acadiana, Brother Martin, Lafayette, Maybe one of the Northshore teams. However, due to this years bracketing, will give lots of other teams a chance to make the quarterfinal, semis and possibly even the finals.
Quarterfinal Matchups
Southwood vs. Mandeville Jesuit vs. Acadiana Baton Rouge Vs. Northshore Lafayette High Vs. St. Pauls
The Northshore will have a fairly easy time, not having to play any of the top teams from District 3 or 9 and could end up with 3 teams in the quarterfinals. It's a shame that the District 3 and District 9 champs play in the quarterfinals, for no matter what the rest of the state says, the best soccer is played there. As witnessed by the last 6 playoffs, only 4 other teams outside of that district have made the semis. This year, it could have 3 alone.

It would seem like not much has changed. Jesuit, Brother Martin, Lafayette and Acadiana are tops this is my top 20:
1. Jesuit - until someone beats them, they deserve it 2. Acadiana - thay came very close 3. Lafayette - Ditto 4. Brother Martin - hasn't hit stride yet....may move up 5. St. Paul - this may be a little inflated 6. Mandeville - playing like a potential champ 7. Central Lafourche - as long as w. wilson is around..... 8. Rummel - new coach will be a success 9. Covington - hasn't played with all their starters yet 10. Hahnville - when they are full strength...lookout 11. Northshore - could learn a lesson from Mand-coach? 12. Carencro - left behind by AHS & LHS....again 13. Baton Rouge - will take Catholic's spot 14. H. L. Bourgeois - kick ball proves successful 15. Holy Cross - STOUT Defense....offense & mid lacking 16. Slidell - unknown....could be strong 17. Catholic - a down year still proves successful 18. West Monroe - best North of BR 19. Fontainebleau - solid but not great 20. DeLaSalle - Catholic league darkhorse Others...... Grace King, Ponchatoula, St. Amant, East Jeff, Destrehan, Sulpher, Caddo Magnet, Woodlawn
