Some races from different areas around the world don't have much facial hair...all depends on the region. Besides that, let's just accept that he's 14. This is a bunch of jealousy when people want to try and find a reason why he is so good. Let's just know that he's good...that's all there is guys. THe media doesn't help when they question someone like that.

As to Freddy-- Much Adu over nothing. I havent heard the quote about him not getting enough playing time, but after watching DC United play with him on the field, as opposed to Eskandarian, I can see why Freddie is riding some more pine than he likes. Adu does absolutely nothing to invole himself in the offensive system employed by DC--he just kind of runs around aimlessly. Freddie is a tremendous 1 v 1 player, and that is evidenced by the fact that both of his MLS goals (I haven't seen the US open cup goal he scored against Rochester) have come from individual brilliance. Despite that, he does nothing to help the rest of DC's attack when he is on the field. It was easy to see Peter Novak's displeasure with all the pressure being put on him by USSF and MLS to play Freddie Adu--mostly because of his marketability rather than soccer ability. Nothing like having money rule your squad (this years All star game is sponsored by Sierra Mist, MLS' newest and most recently high profile sponsor--whose prime new celebrity endorser is............FREDDIE ADU).
With all of that being said--do the math. Adu has given way to Eskandarian over DC last six matches, and in that period of time DC has only lost once (yesterday to KC), and in that period Esky has scored six goals. Nuff said.
As for his age--look how easily he is getting knocked of the ball by the older, stronger MLS defenders. If he isnt 14 (15 now) he sure plays like it.

Here's what he said: what can I freaking do when I come into the game in the 75th minute and the game is tied 1-1? Neither team is playing for the 3 points, and thus no attacking soccer, no attempts to get into the attacking 3rd, just hold the ball and play back.
Freddy was told by league officials to squelch the talk, it looks bad when the teams quit attacking and stadium revenues and TV viewership are falling.
Freddy is def not a defender, and does run aimlessly at times. CoachRay has good observations.
After watching Freddy all season, I would guess he is only 15. But look at Bobby Convey when he was 16 and now he is 20, trying to secure a defensive spot on the Nats. Freddy will have his day in about 2 years, maybe even play in a WCQ next year, or at least a B-team match like last night.
Petr is right on the money in handling Freddy. It's hard to keep your most $$$$ player on the bench with all the hype.
Sort of like PJ Kee on the Shockers . . .

European clubs want him now, so that they can nuture him into a player for the future for them. Most clubs dont want freddy adu signing for another club because he obviously has potential. However, if you think he's a really special, special talent IN WORLD SOCCER, he's really not.
The 16 year old Wayne Rooney was a lot better than the now 15 year old Freddy Adu. 17 year old Cesc Fabregas will undoubtedly become one of the best midfielders in the world. I have serious reservations about whether Adu can do what Rooney's done as a forward, or what Fabregas has done as a midfielder, when he reaches that age.
Here's the good thing though. Freddy Adu is a huge name now. In America, everyone talks about him. If Freddy Adu signed for any European club, that European club would receive a hell of a lot of money. Their revenues would increase SO MUCH, due to shirt sales, and people traveling over to see him. Soccer is a business. Adu is a proposition.
Now if you want to really talk about players who have PROVEN they are not all talk, DC United's Eskandarian deserves the talk. If I was him, I'd play for Iran, but that's another story. Im sorry, everyone just overreacts, but if yall really think Adu's some sort of major star now, then surely he would start every game for DC United. Give him time people. Then we shall see.
