Brasil will not be repeating their win of the worlld cup. It will be down to Argentina and Holland, since both will advance out of bracket and meet again in the semi-finals.

Brazil usually wins their world cups outside of europe. I believe they won the 54 world cup in Sweden, but other than that, the other world cup victories were either in the americas or asia.

The love for USA is shown by the tv broadcasters in america who have struck the biggest deal ever associated with FIFA to show the world cup games.
Brazil are the favourites. England have to be the European favourites. Only a fool discounts Germany. Italy could actually be the dark horse to look out for.

Germany and Italy are just ghosts of their former selves. My favorite coming out of the European zone is the Netherlands, in my opinion the most underrated team in the world right now. I think one semi will be Argentina and Netherlands, both coming out of the same bracket, similar to Turkey and Brasil from the '02 World Cup.

I predict Brazil will not win. I feel Holland, Italy, or England will win it. Germany could surprise with their home crowd. European cups are usually won by european teams. The 54 WC in Sweden is the only one I can think of off the top of my head that was one by a south american team, Brazil.

haha italy?! are u joking? they are too old to do anything anymore... their u21's arent soo bad but i doubt that the coach will play the unexperienced 20 year olds in the world cup. It is out of Argentina, Holland, Czech Republic, and Brazil... Czechs will handle Italy and the USA, it will be no sweat for Brazil either. Holland will have to go through Argentina but they can do it. Im going with Brazil again... How can you go against the team with arguably 5 of the top 10 players in the world in Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Adriano, Dida, and Robinho? You cant...

How silly. You obviously dont know anything.
Italy went to Holland and beat Holland 3-1 recently. Too old??? Wish....
Buffon, Nesta, Gattuso, Pirlo, Totti, Toni...........
I rest my case.

... my point was that Brazil will win, i dont know why you are arguing about a team that might not even make it out of the groups...

I guess that there are a lot of really good teams which might have a chance to bring the trophy home... England, Argentina, Brazil....those three are the ones i would have an eye on.... besides them i think the czech rep, the netherlands and france have awesome teams as well. And don't forget about germany, its true, that they don't have the glory of former days, but they still got good players....besides this they have home crowd advantage and do not forget how france won their first worldcup 1998....they got pumped up by their fans... but to face reality ;D i believe that argentinia, england and brazil have the best chances....

Brazil?.....maybe, but might not live up to the hype and implode
England?........WHAT?! Never. 2 words for you--David James..ugh two more words......Paul Robinson-ughxII English Goalkeeping is just awful enough to keep them out
France?......nope-Henry has underperformed recently on theInternational level, Zidanes bald spot is getting bigger(means hes getting old--by the way,Am I the only one who thinks he has more hair on his body than on his head?), and littlebaldgoalkeeperdude still isnt any good
CamerIvorygeria?--as if
Mexico?...............no answer, not worth the oxygen to talk about them
Netherlands? another underacheivement and early exit--by the way, the best players in the world are HERE
U.S.A?.......I couldnt get drunk enough to ever beleive that--US goes 0-2-1 and then home
My picks--Germany or Czech republic. Czech have been consistent over the last 8 years in both World Cup and European Cup, are loaded in the starting 11 (Smicer, Baros, Koeller, Cech, Nedved, etc.....
germany is the home team, and dont count out Ballack and co.
European Cup...European winner

GERMANY Germany work so hard, and they have so much discipline. There were plenty of better teams at 2002, but Germany still found their way to the final. Ballack's even better now though. Not to mention that all of Germany's game are home games. That's a huge factor.
ENGLAND "England?........WHAT?! Never" HAHA, WISH!
Paul Robinson has been in outstanding form this season. Im not going to say that he's world class, but some of the saves that he is making, are world class. Its no wonder his club side are in contention for champions league. Before the opposition gets to him, they better beware of having to get past any of Ashley Cole (best left back in the world), John Terry (voted joint 10th best player in Europe with Eto'o!), Jamie Carragher (voted joint 20th best player in Europe), Rio Ferdinand, Sol Campbell, Gary Neville.... name me a better set of defenders in any nation.
Lampard - official 2nd best player in the world. Gerrard - voted 3rd in Ballon D'or. Two world class central midfielders. Add in Ledley King as a holding midfielder if needed, Joe Cole's been winning games for Chelsea recently, add in David Beckham, who has the best crosses in the world, and you have yourself a world class midfield.
Rooney and Owen up front - absolutely fantastic combination. Rooney is said to be one of the best players in the world already. I'll stick my neck on the line and say that Rooney will be amongst the world player of the year talk for 2006. Owen is a natural goalscorer. Now that for me is a world class team. Lets hope injuries dont keep players out of the squad.
ARGENTINA Argentina lost to England 3-2 recently, but I think their whole team revolves around one player - Juan Roman Riquelme. This guy has been super recently. Absolutely superb. If Riquelme turns it on, Argentina will be a threat.
HOLLAND Holland are strong, and they didnt lose one game throughout their whole qualification campaign under Marco Van Basten. However, they lost to Italy 3-1 in a friendly, so im not sure if they're capable of getting the results against the big teams. Remember that they dont have to travel far either, so they might feel at home anyway.
ITALY Luca Toni has been sensational in Serie A. He seems to be able to take a ridiculously high percentage of his chances at club level and international level, so if the creative forces of Francesco Totti, Alessandro Del Piero, Andrea Pirlo and Antonio Cassano (now at Real Madrid) can conjure up some chances, then Italy may be in business. I have a sneaky feeling that we may see them in the world cup final.
CZECH REPUBLIC 10 years ago, the Czech Republic were not taken seriously and they got to the final of Euro 96 and lost on a 'golden goal' against Germany. Nedved has come back from international wilderness and he will be their best player. Petr Cech is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Rosicky, Baros, Jankulovski are quality. Ujfalusi and Hubschman are solid defenders. They may go far if they are not given the respect that they deserve.
FRANCE France has a point to prove. They didnt even score a goal at the last world cup. There are all sorts of noises that Zinedine Zidane will hang up his boots after the world cup, so you know that his creative genius will be on full display. Add in the strikeforce of Thierry Henry and Davide Trezeguet, and now you can see goals. Defensively, Claude Makélélé and Patrick Vieira will be solid as usual and Thuram will keep things tight at the back. Surely they've learned from 2002, however my only reservations lie with their coach. Im not entirely convinced.
SPAIN Spain's tournament will be decided by their first game. They have to play Ukraine and if they do not stop Andrei Shevchenko, they will come 2nd in their group and will have to play whoever is first from France's group.
BRAZIL Their coach won the world cup for Brazil in 1994 as the coach, so he'll know what he's doing. Defensively, his team plays as a unit. They are not easy to break down. Emerson is world class. Another reason they are difficult to break down is that their opponent doesnt really get enough of the ball because Brazil are attacking. Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaka, Robinho, Adriano, Ze Roberto, Julio Baptista, Juninho Pernambucano (best free kick taker in the world) + Cafu and Roberto Carlos love to attack. We could see Brazil doing what they did in Sweden.

USA will go through group play and either lose to Brazil in the round of 16 or France in the quarterfinals. I believe they tie Italy and beat Ghana and Czech.

i think we will beat italy, and ghana, and lost to czechs(who win our group) and then go to quarters and lose to brazil. we can keep it respectable, it wont be a thrashing in our loss to brazil.

My prediction is that the US is going to lose against Czech, wit a lil luck they tie italy ...and finally they gonna win against ghana....as result they will be on number 3 in their groupe...czech is gonna get the number one spot...
The US only got a chance if italy struggles against ghana and czech(what i assume)....

first of all I would like to address everyone in this forum that is doubting the USA's chances. Do we not remember World Cup 2002? We were expected to get our butts handed to us against Portugal (the favorite to win the tournament I might add), but instead we beat them in style 3-2. We also tied eventual semi-finalists South Korea. Then we beat our arch rivals Mexico who basically can only beat the USA these days in Mexico City. And we clearly outplayed the finalists Germany in the quarters. This was four years ago and the USA has only gotten better.
Next, don't be surprised to see Serbia or the Ivorians come out of Group C. The Ivory Coast has loads of talent, and Serbia only had one goal scored against them through the whole qualification process. So basically stop handing the group to the Netherlands and Argentina. Especially since Argentina are having injury problems. (Gabriel Heinze is out for the season and is not expected to be fit for the World Cup)
I would like to touch up on every group, but I don't have all night. So I'll give my picks to win the whole thing. My first choice will have to be England. Although if Wayne Rooney does not play well, England will not play well (which is highly unlikely, just look at what Rooney did in Euro 04) . I say this with confidence because when you look at how they are set up, the entire team revolves around him on the attack. Luckily he has very broad shoulders so he can carry that team. And of course, my next pick to win it should Wayne Rooney dissapoint, will be the Brazillians. A bit shaky in the back, but that has always been the case and they've done fantastic anyway. I can't count out Holland though, even if they are a long shot for me.
Oh and one more little thing. Coachray, I don't understand how you can describe Paul Robinson with an "ugh". He is one of the best goalies in the Premier League. And the Premier League has some of the best goalies in the world. (Cech, van der Sar, Friedel, Reina) Also, what's the problem with Zidane? Even at his age, he still walks around every pitch he steps on like he owns it. He is a footballing genius. Without him France may as well not show up, but if he is healthy, they will be a force. As much as I hate to admit that. (people that know me know I hate to say anything good about France). And I'm sorry but how can you say the Czechs have been consistent in the World Cup the past 8 years when they weren't even in the last World Cup? Plus the only players worth noting in the starting 11 for them are Nedved and Cech. Nedved is basically like Zidane. So shut him down and the Czech attack shuts down. And Cech is just marvelous between the posts. Other than that, they don't cause much of a fuss.
Well that's alll I've got for now. Had to get it off my chest.
