1st half ends 1-1. What a game of soccer. This is great stuff. Last weekend great action from Man U v Chelsea. This weekend great action here. Next weekend, Real Madrid v Barcelona. Welcome to my world....
Anyway, Owen's put the ball in the net but it was offside, and Crespo bundled the ball in, only for it to be disallowed for a push. Crespo did eventually put Argentina ahead. Maxi Rodriguez put ball in, Ferdinand couldnt cut it out, Crespo tapped in from 6 yards out. However, England struck back through Rooney. Beckham found him the most advanced England player and flicked the ball with his head behind him into the space, where Rooney ran onto the ball and punished the Argentine defence. An amazing half of soccer.
Lets hope the 2nd half isnt spoilt by stupid substituitions. I dont see that happening. This is theoritically a friendly. Haha.....England v Argentina game is a friendly?? NEVER!! Bring on some more please lads......
PS....Best players on the pitch...... Riquelme & Rooney

ENGLAND 3-2 ARGENTINA
I cant really remember a better friendly. Amazing game. It was 1-1 at half time.
Riquelme had a free kick in the second half....most people thought he was going to shoot, however he stood it up to the far post where the unmarked Walter Samuel glanced his header into the far corner of the net. Argentina didnt really create many great chances after that, although Robinson did smother a Saviola chance from point blank range.
Cue Michael Owen. It really does show what he's capable of at international level now that he's playing first team regular football at Newcastle after kindly heating up the bench at Real Madrid last season (even though he still got into double figures for goals). Peter Crouch had come on, and maybe the Argentine defence paid too much attention to his aeriel ability because on 87 minutes, Steven Gerrard crossed it in, Crouch dragged a few players to the near post, and Michael Owen had a free header at the far post, which he put across the goalkeeper and into the net, similar to Samuel's effort. 2-2.
And of course 2 minutes into stoppage time, Joe Cole's trickery on the left hand side allowed him to cut inside and chip a ball into the middle of the box. Owen, Crouch and Samuel went for the same ball, but it was Owen's quick thinking that got him there first, and he headed it in at the near post to give England the lead for the first time in the game. 3-2. The ref blowed for full time soon after that.
The most critical of England fans will argue that Argentina had already taken off some of their best players like Riquelme, Crespo and Ayala, before Owen won it. However, in a friendly the performance is more important than the result in my opinion and Im happy to say that England performed well enough to state that their preparations for the world cup are in place.
