As of today. I say he has positioned himself nicely.
His header on today's (Jerzy Dudek - Poland) keeper was the difference. Great cross from Lewis and headed goal by Dempsey, but it was Twellman that made it happen. At least that is my opinion.
Anyway, with his late performances with the MLS and european based players, his stock has gone up dramatically.
He shows he will be there. Mc Bride - kept out due to a slight injury. Will McBride be there at the end of the EPL season? Eddie Johnson looks limp coming off of injury. He did score a goal against Guatemala after he came into game but doesn't show to be his normal self. Still, his current streak in the past 10 to 14 (however many there is in EJ's history) games is more impressive than Taylor Twellman's past 3 or 4. Brian Ching will not make it unless because of injury in my opinion. Josh Wolfe I beleive is not all that I would want in a forward, but he performed his role the last time he was there, so he could be at the World Cup again.
Arena will take 4 for sure, 5 or 6 less likely.
My 4:
Eddie Johnson Taylor Twellman Brian McBride Josh Wolfe

i still say they should go with Mcbride, he's proven quality and will provide the USA with a player who you're guarenteed 110% from in every game. Twellman I think is next in line but I think if they don't play McBride they don't get as far, they won 1-0 today, if Mcbride played from the start, I think it would have been a bit better. But that's just because I rate a guy who plays in the EPL over one that won't leave the MLS, get him to Europe quick and he'll get twice as good

I think the need to go to europe is less prevalent in need today than ever. In the past, yea, but as time goes on, I feel this is becoming less of a necessity.
I respect that Donovan wants to stay playing in the USA. I do not believe it will hamper or hurt his career.

I would be very surprised if Twellman didn't make the roster for Germany '06 considering his form and the number of goals that he has scored.

Although I doubt that he will be chosen, I have been impressed with Clint Dempsey. I think he's from Nacogdoches which is pretty close to LA.

Me too toolshed. I have always said, that as the south starts to produce national team players, then the MNT will improve as well. If you look at the majority of the major sports in the USA, most of the stars are from the south. The south is ideal for soccer development in that it can support nice grass fields, the weather is ideal for most of the year, and the level of athlete is superior to the rest of the country. Last world cup, we had our first southern representitives outside of St. Louis and Dallas, in Clint Mathis and Josh Wolff from Stone Mountain, GA. Now we are starting to see Dempsy from Nacogdoches and Justin Mapp from Clinton, Mississippi.
